TREND ONLINE: ISSUE 01: DISQUIET
TREND Magazine brings you ‘Disquiet.’ This digital catalog examines the parts of us that we keep hidden, only on display in the most intimate settings. Once the protective restraint comes undone, we can explore the inner workings of our identities and passions.
Examine the hyper-pink and sickly-sweet colors dispersed within these images. They highlight a dreamscape of femininity and 1960s-inspired self-commercialization. Is it an act? Possibly a performance? Without question.
Inspired by q***r cult classics such as “But I’m A Cheerleader,” we aim to embrace our own q***rness and audaciousness. These unapologetic performances directly influenced “Disquiet’s” messaging and stylization.
The electric looks of the 1960s often bring us a feeling of nostalgia: vintage hairdos, exaggerated eye makeup, and lyrical posing. We showcase the beauty of this decade while simultaneously telling a story that would not have been published at the time, creating a juxtaposition of aesthetics and principles.
“Disquiet” is set on the stage of Queen Anne Bed and Breakfast in Nevada, Iowa. The Victorian mansion has an alluring style, filling out minds with visions of pillow fights and vintage nighties. Our digital collection is the physical representation of these fantasies.
We hope you enjoy,
Online Directors Erica Buettner, Peyten Green, Tory Meeks, & Jackie Royston
