Honoring Our Heroes on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Today, we take a moment to honor and celebrate the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our community. Being a police officer is no easy task, and my family and I are proud to stand in support of our brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

This day is special but emotional for me. My father served as a police officer for 36 years, and he passed away on this day three years ago. I miss him every day, but I carry his legacy in my heart. His dedication to service inspires my own passion for serving others and making a difference.

Earlier this week, we hosted Coffee with the Cops, and it was incredible to see so many dedicated individuals—veterans of the force, police officers, detectives, and crime prevention specialists—come together to engage with our community.

As members of the public, it’s vital that we continue to uplift our police officers and remind them that they are appreciated and supported. Not just today, but every day. Putting on the badge and stepping into harm’s way for the safety of others is an act of courage that deserves our gratitude and respect.

To all who serve, thank you. I pledge to always be a champion for law enforcement and to support the vital role you play in our community.

What a whirlwind of generosity!
Over the past two days, I joined an unstoppable crew of teachers, principals, APs, volunteers, and retired educators to haul and sort mountains of school supplies.
🏫📚💪
Donations poured in from as far away as Huntsville, ranging from a fistful of crayons to entire truckloads 🚛. It was downright inspiring to see our community step up when it counts 🙌.

One of the best moments was teaming up with meteorologist ABC13-Travis Herzogand his crew. They didn’t just show up for a quick snapshot—they rolled up their sleeves, carried boxes for hours, and even drove supplies across town when delivery vehicles were unavailable. I got a kick out of Windy and Melinda’s reactions every time I dropped off another box of composition notebooks; they were tallying those bad boys like champs. I also loved seeing the retired Walt Disney Elementary teachers jump right back into action—once you’re a teacher, you’re always a teacher. And nothing beats watching little kids light up as they donated their packs of markers and crayons 🖍️✨.

We had some friendly competition, too. Racing Jim from one sorting table to another and trying to out-carry Robert was a serious challenge—he’s still got me beat 🔥💪. The arm-wrestling match with Nancy over who got to ride in the ABC 13 vehicle might not have ended in my favor, but maybe next time.

More donations are on the way from local retailers and neighbors, and even Mayor Kevin Cole is organizing a supply drive. So keep an eye on the Alvin Independent School District page and the Alvin ISD Education Foundation page for any updates or needs 📢📝. And remember, if you are not able to donate supplies, cheering on our teachers and students with a few positive words can make a world of difference

This is what dedication looks like, AISD is hard at work preparing an alternate location for Walt Disney students and teachers. Everyone should donate what they can and keep lifting up AISD staff and teachers. Lord knows people on the Talk of Alvin will still have a problem with it 🤣🤣

Great time at Coffee with the Cops this morning. Thank you to ARISE Aesthetics and Wellness for sponsoring the event. Had a great visit with my friends Barry & Alfred Froberg, I am looking forward to all the amazing things they will accomplish for our area in the future.

I am hosting the next Coffee with Cops at Alvin Skate -N- Party on January 7th from 8am to 9am.
