The tongue and jaw are BFFSSSSSS. They love to play together. But sometimes a little isolation can go a LONG way. Remember, your tongue is the thing that will offer more variability in sound than ANY OTHER PART of the vocal instrument. Creating that independence will foster more freedom and resonance choices for all the dang sounds ya wanna make. How many of you use this exercise? What other benefits do you find? In this new season of life I wanted to prioritize singing for FUN and JOY, and nothing emulates that goal more than this fabulous song. Closing one of the biggest chapters of my life this week. ❤️ It has been an absolute emotional rollercoaster to even think about stepping out of academia. But here we are.

I started my journey with Shenandoah Conservatory over a decade ago. The artists and friends I’ve had the pleasure of working with during that time have changed my life in such profound ways, there really aren’t words.

Being able to work with these singers was a life-long dream come true. To each and every one of you: I love you. Thank you for trusting me with such tender parts of yourselves. You are extraordinary and I will be forever grateful for our time together.

To the colleagues who took a chance on a young, hungry, MT-loving teacher: thank you. The opportunity to work at this level has taught me more than I can say.

Now, with a heart full of more complex feelings than I know what to do with, we move on to the next chapter (exciting details to come)!
