“In my humble opinion the GOP has shown dangerous amounts of electoral incompetence these last few days in regards to Georgia that have led me to rethink my prediction before about who the ultimate winner will turn out to be. It was the Republicans’ race to lose and it looks like that’s exactly what they’ve chosen to do.
For starters, Trump loses Georgia in November but the Senate canadidates were winning. Now instead of focusing on Biden and what it would mean to be a check on a Biden presidency, someone who says they’re gonna be the most liberal president since FDR (let’s think about what that means for a sec) the Senate candidates would rather preach about how much they love Trump and how they stand with him. The reason that people voted for Biden over Trump but did not support the Democratic Senate candidates is simple: MOST PEOPLE IN GEORGIA ARE OVER DONALD TRUMP but they’re not over conservative values.
While the Republican Senate candidates in Georgia continue to support him so flamboyantly, Trump continues to tell people that voting doesn’t matter because it’s rigged. The only people who believe this are people who voted Republican. So while historic amounts of people are excited to cast their vote, I can’t say that many of them are Trump supporters or Republicans. The Democrats have focused on turnout, while the Republicans have told their people that this process is illegitimate and thus there’s no reason to turnout. Donald Trump is already saying it’s rigged and we have yet to see any results from the run-off.
And in the meantime I’m DC, you’ve got cheapskate Mitch McConnell, whom if Trump had said 2000 just a few days beforehand you’d probably have 2000 dollars in a stimulus. If Trump had stayed silent very few people would have been thinking about the number 2,000. But now the truth is that since the president has exposed the Republican Senate for being stingy, anybody who wants a stimulus, Republican or Democrat, knows what they have to do.
I can see a scenario where they split the seats 1 and 1 being entirely possible, as the Democrats have made a number of gaffes as well. However, I’ve got Democrats taking both Georgia Senate seats in a double overtime thriller.”
