I'm so lucky...I love you, Jeremy. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! ❤️
PS: this massive bouncy in Iceland was probably the hardest we've ever laughed, and a memory that we'll always remember. 🤣. Weeee! 🆘
Who else likes to dance when they eat something yummy?! 👉🏼🥷
Today we visited Michelangelo’s Statue of David, one of the world’s most significant pieces of #art. Check out these #funfacts !
Wishing my best friend a HAPPY FOURTH ANNIVERSARY!! It seems crazy we’ve only been married four years, considering we’ve know each other our whole lives.
I’m so thankful for your love, especially when times are rough. I wish everyone could be so lucky. I love you ❤️.
Today we took a bus through twisty Amalfi roads to nearby Ravello - one of the most beautiful places in Italy (some say in the world!).
Ravello is known as “the balcony of the Amalfi Coast”, perched 1,200 feet (365 meters) above the Tyrrhenian Sea overlooking the gorgeous, picturesque Amalfi Coast.
Wowwwwweeee, what a stunning, quaint gem of a village. Around every corner was something jaw-dropping scenery…as per usual, pictures and videos don’t do it justice. Plus, there were the cutest cats 🐈 around (but not too many). We named each cat we met Luigi (check out our Corrippo, Switzerland video to see why).
We didn’t know this at the time, but Ravello has been attracting celebrities for centuries. Besides the scenery, Ravello is one of the quietest villages along the Amalfi Coast. Just what we love ❤️. We’d come back and stay in Ravello in a heartbeat.
After making our way back to Amalfi, we had a mediocre linner (lunch+dinner) and made up for the mediocrity with gelato. All better. 🥰
Wishing you a terrific rest of your Thursday.
Happy Tuesday from Amalfi, Italy, on the beautiful Amalfi Coast.
The day started early as we navigated down a mile of Naples bumpy, urban streets to catch a bus which drove us two hours down the most windy and treacherous road we (three collectively) have ever been on. It was terrifying and beautiful at the same time. 👀. Honestly, we are just happy to be alive.
After navigating our way to the AirBnB we’ll call home for the next week, 85 flights of stairs later, we had welcome drinks and acquired some essentials and explored beautiful Amalfi by foot.
To be honest, we’d be happy to stay here the rest of our trip (not going to happen, but in hindsight). It’s beautiful here in Amalfi. Serene, gorgeous landscapes, and a fraction of the people we experienced in Venice and Naples. We found our happy place 😊.
We had Aperol spritzes on our rooftop terrace overlooking the sea, then a late dinner where we met two new digital nomad friends. It’s always fun (and so interesting) to hear others’ stories. Although it’s only 8pm, it feels like midnight and we are ready to crash, after a little work. 🙄
Italy is no joke. Incredible exercise - which is great considering the carbs and heavy foods consumed at nearly every meal. But this country as a whole is absolutely not friendly to disabled or physically challenged individuals. We can personally speak this fact from Venice, Naples and Amalfi. You damn near need to be pretty fit to make it around here. BIG difference from the USA. Not judging, just sharing the info for those planning a trip. You will experience no elevators, LOTS of stairs, bumpy roads and lots and lots of walking. Just be prepared.
All in all, we are SO happy to be in Amalfi and can’t wait to enjoy the beautiful Amalfi Coast over the next six days.
Sending you our best. Ciao Bella!
Today was all about visiting Pompeii.
We left our AirBnB around 8am to catch a couple trains to Pompeii. Had a very Italian breakfast of STRONG coffee and paninis, then made our way into the Pompeii archaeological site.
For those who aren’t familiar (or need a refresher), Pompeii was the ancient Roman city which was covered in over 19 feet of ashes and pumice when neighboring volcano, Mount Vesuvius, erupted in the year 79 CE (1,943 years ago).
The ashes largely preserved Pompeii, and have since been excavated to offer a really somber and stunning look into Roman life nearly 2,000 years ago. The magnitude really hits you when you are physically there - our little video clips don’t do it justice.
Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy.
After returning home, we had a tasty meal - diavola (spicy salami) pizza for Jeremy and Holly, pasta for me (🥷). For those wondering why we are having sooooo much pizza. Two reasons: 1) we are in Naples, the birthplace of pizza (duh!), and 2) we are making a dedicated video comparing different pizzas. So there’s that.
Tomorrow is our last full day / night in Naples, then on to Amalfi. We have our fingers and toes crossed that there will not be as many tourists. Pray for us 🙏🏼👀😊.
Happy Friday from Naples, Italy!
Over the past two days we’ve done some sightseeing, ate and drank way too much, and even took a pizza-making class and made our own Neapolitan pizza 🍕!
Here are a few highlights:
* Explored the most popular alley in Naples, Via San Gregorio Armeno, which is packed with souvenirs and Christmas stuff.
* Walked around the Centro Historico (Historic Center of Naples)
* Ate pizza at “L’antica Pizzeria da Michele”, known around the world and also featured in the movie “Eat, Pray, Love”.
* Had spritzes at a random alley cafe near our place. Some drunk guy tried to pick a fight. He lost 😡. We shared the “babá”, a Naples traditional rum-soaked cake, it was tasty but wouldn’t order again.
* Dodged cars and mopeds - I would NEVER want to drive in this city. One guy drove down an alley only to discover he couldn’t fit and had to back up out of the alley.
* Took a pizza making class (mentioned above) and even received our own diplomas. We are certified Napoli pizza chefs! 📜 Our pizzas were pretty tasty!
That’s all for now. We are here three more nights before heading to the Amalfi Coast.
Have a great day and weekend! ✌🏼
