Poem I wrote for my father who recently passed away March 8th from Covid
My Hero
Your time here was so brief,
Nothing could prepare me for my grief,
To seven children you were dad,
You were my bestest friend that I ever had,
In 1955 you were born,
Can’t fathom that so soon we now mourn,
Your children would always fight and clash,
However we all agreed that you should shave your mustache,
We all love and miss our father the Sci-fi nerd,
Our father who’s heart was so pure,
Every year you’d cut the turkey,
Just writing this my eyes are getting blurry,
Can’t believe this is real,
Can’t wrap my mind around the pain we feel,
The smiles, the joys, the laughs, your embrace I am so grateful for,
You were my father...the greatest man that I could ever adore.
