A New Effington woman is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after shooting her supervisor at a Milbank nursing home. Carrie Ann Collins faces one count of felony attempted first degree murder, which carries a maximum punishment of 25 years in prison and a $50,000.

Westport's Sacred Heart Catholic Church has celebrated its final regular Sunday Mass. The last Sunday Mass was Dec. 29. After Mass New Year's Eve, parish members gathered for a potluck. Sunday attendance ranged from 45 to 60 parishioners, said the Rev. Jordan Samson. There were 39 families in the church community, he said.
