Uganda Peoples Congress Official has asked bus operators to desist from driving long routes without taking enough rest during Christmas holidays saying these actions may cause fatigue likely to lead to accidents. Muzeeyi Faizo, the party Head of Media and Communication says fatigue, overloading and reckless driving are the main causes of road accidents in Uganda. He said as the festive season gets close, drivers and other road users should be vigilant to observe traffic and road safety regulations to avoid accidents. A report by the directorate of traffic and road safety - Uganda indicates that 60 lives were lost in road accidents in last year's Christmas holidays between 23rd December 2023 and 1st January, 2024. UPC appealed to the passengers to control over speeding drivers and report any traffic violations to relevant authorities to prevent further tragedies.
