We Christians should be people who make progress, not excuses.
There have always been people who have made up excuses to the Lord. Some knew their alibis weren’t true, while others actually believed their own excuses.
Jesus told a parable of the great end-time banquet and the men who were invited to the Lord’s Table:But they all alike began to make excuses.
The first said, “I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.”
Another said, “I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on myway to try them out. Please excuse me.”
Still another said, “I just got married, so I can’t come.” (Luke 14:18-20)
These men made excuses and missed out on salvation. All of them made themistake of believing their alibis rather than God.
Quitting, giving up, failing, and even judging, all of these begin with anexcuse.
Never allow an obstacle in your life to become an alibi. “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things” (Rom. 2:1).
