Busitema University Bus Involved in an Accident

Tragic news coming in from the Eastern part of the country indicates the involvement of Busitema University vehicle in a road crash.

Preliminary reports allege that two people people have died on following the incident .

Apparently, Busitema University bus is said to have been carrying students of Midland High School Kaberamaido.

The school headteacher, John Baptist Ekou said the students were heading to Jinja for Geography field study when the crash happened in Awoja, Aukot sub-county, Soroti District.

Some of the survivors are currently admitted at Soroti regional referral hospital.

Police Vs Bobi Wine in Mbale

The Police in Mbale on Tuesday battled supporters of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine as he was being led out of Mbale City.

The presidential aspirant and National Unity Platform (NUP) president had just attended a court session at Mbale High Court where he filed a case against the Inspector General of Police, the Elgon regional Police commander, the Mbale district Police commander and Mbale Resident District Commissioner Barraza Goji for reportedly stopping him from being hosted in Mbale.

Bungokho North MP Aspirant Tests positive for COVID19

An aspirant for the Bungokho North Central constituency parliamentary seat in Mbale district has tested positive for Covid-19. Information obtained from health officials in Mbale shows that the aspirant is isolated at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Edward Nyongesa, the Mbale District Surveillance Officer told Uganda Radio Network that the aspirant offered himself for testing in line with the directive by the National Resistance Movement-NRM Electoral Commission chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi to all aspirants to test for Covid-19 before nominations.

Nyongesa says they dispatched the aspirant’s samples to Entebbe Virus Research Institute for testing and they returned positive on Wednesday morning.

“His results were the first on the list and when we called him he told us he was in Kampala printing his posters. We alerted the Kampala team and he has now been evacuated and is admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital,” he said.

He revealed that plans are underway to trace the aspirant’s contacts and family members for isolation.

“You see now Covid-19 is in the communities and everyone is a potential candidate for the disease, people should be extra careful to prevent the spread of the disease,” he said.

First COVID19 death registered in Mbale city

Uganda has registered its first covid 19 death in the new Mbale city. It occurred yesterday in Joy Hospice.

The victim was being treated in Buwasunguyi and was later referred to Mbale.

She was on the team that was distributing nets in Namisindwa district.

Top Church and Refining Fire Ministry Limited in Marriage Fraud Scam

A Ugandan man wants the court to compel the directorate of Citizenship & Immigration to probe his American wife over marriage fraud.

Mr Joseph Magezi and Ms Jeannie Berry Edge marriage took a new twist when the latter divorced after only three months in a marriage.

Mr Magezi also wants the wife [Ms Jeannie Berry] probed overlocking him in holy matrimony for selfish reasons associated with her desire to be domiciled in Uganda through the fake marriage and holy matrimony.

Mr Magezi and Ms Jeanie Magezi entered into Christian marriage at City Victory Church in Mbale and were issued with a certificate No. CVO11/2019 but shortly after getting the certificate Ms Jeannie Berry ordered his husband after only three months to vacate his premises without justification.

And through his lawyers, AM Mwebesa & Company advocates, Mr Magezi wants Ms Jeannie to pay his investment into the marriage expenditure which he alleges amounted to Shs 170.000.000, return his passport, driving permit as well as personal belongings in her custody.

Ms Jeannie Berry in Mbale and she is running Refining Fire Ministry Limited, a company that was founded by Mr Magezi.

In a letter to Ms Jeannie Berry dated July 10, A.Mwebesa and & company advocates said that prior to the marriage, she [Ms Jeannie] asked Mr Magezi to find resources to register and found Refining Fire Ministry Company Limited as a company limited by guarantee.

“And despite his investment, you found an excuse to evict him without prior notice, an act that our client finds wanting and for which he demands answers,” reads the letter of intention to sue seen by PML daily.

Mr Magezi says that when they got married, because of his Christian faith, he requested his wife to abandon the habit of exploiting street children in Mbale to secure donations from overseas for her personal benefit, something he says offended her.

“And following this encounter, you ordered him to vacate your premises without any justification or excuse aware that you had locked him up in a holy matrimony for selfish reasons associated with your desire to be domiciled in Uganda through marriage to our client,” reads a letter dated July 10 by M/S A.Mwebesa &Co advocates copied to Directorate of Citizenship & Immigration control, Uganda Registration Services Bureau, America Embassy and Victory Church in Mbale.

In this file Mr Magezi wants the court to compel the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to start an investigation into alleged fake marriage that was intended to help Ms Beanie Berry be domiciled in Uganda.

According to Osborn’s Concise Law dictionary, domicile means habitation in a place however with an intension of remaining unless something happens to change the intension. A person can only have one domicile in a place that has a separate legal system.

The Black’s Law Dictionary defines domicile as a place at which a person has been physically present and that the person regards as home; a person’s true, fixed, principle and permanent home, to which that person intends to return and remain even though currently residing elsewhere.

Ms Beanie Berry is accused of being part of a marriage scam that paid Mbale City Victory Church to wed her while she sought to gain Ugandan citizenship.

When reached for a comment, Ms Jeannie Berry denied marrying Mr Magezi and maintained that he was just a boyfriend.

“I don’t want to discuss my relationship with Mr Magezi in the media, Mr Magezi was just a boyfriend and please call me later and we meet,” said Ms Jeannie Berry before giving the phone to somebody else in the background to speak to this reporter.
