Mr. Xavier Ejoyi -the Country Director for ActionAid International Uganda says what is going in the fight against global warming is the unnoticed industrial agriculture, which relies on the large-scale destruction of biomass and the ecosystem. It is the second biggest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. He added that Over 460 billion dollars from banks and other financiers goes to funding fossil fuel-related investments which are the leading contributors to greenhouse gases.

COP28 facilitated a historic agreement to operationalize and capitalize funding for Loss and Damage, committing $726 million to support those most affected by the climate crisis, and Uganda .Experts say that if shared ,Uganda could get up 51 million Dollars ,to support those most affected by impact of climate change.

The Chief invited guest, Hon. Museveni, the Minister of Education and Sports, today inaugurated the symposium, she was represented by Dr. Joyce Morika Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Education. During her opening address, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu shed light on the alarming findings of a recent report on the national sanitation outlook.

Despite substantial progress made, the report revealed that numerous schools remained vulnerable to sanitation-related diseases. Drawing attention to the persistent challenges faced by schools, she singled out Buliisa district as one of the worst-performing districts. The district exhibited a dire situation, with a pupil-to-latrine ratio of 648:1 for girls and 844:1 for boys. Such figures strongly suggested widespread open defecation practices within schools, posing significant health risks to learners.

Check out this inspiring story of Kenneth Oyat, a resident of Lira Palwo, who saw an opportunity in the demand for liquid soap in his community and started his own business - Oyat & Sons Company Limited. Starting small, Kenneth began supplying soap to local health centers and neighboring clinics, and with hard work and dedication, his business grew. Today, he supplies between 40 to 100 liters of soap every week, providing an essential product to the community. Despite facing challenges in accessing raw materials due to limited capital, Kenneth remains determined and continues to work towards expanding his business, even involving his children in the process. Through his efforts, Kenneth has made a positive impact on his community by providing a necessary product and creating employment opportunities.
