The International Criminal Court Judges have ruled that prosecutors can bring a hearing on charges against fugitive Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony in his absence on October 15th 2024.
Kony is the founder and leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) whose arrest warrant was issued in 2005 by the International Criminal Court and prosecutors are looking to charge him with 36 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity including murder, r**e, using child soldiers, sexual slavery, forced marriage and forced pregnancy.
The Lords Resistance Army sowed fear among Ugandans for nearly 20 years as it battled the government of President Yoweri Museveni from bases in northern Uganda and neighboring countries, but has now largely been wiped out, but according to UN about 100,000 people were killed in the conflict.
Ugandan Singer Beenie Gunter says he was stopping a fight between promoters before his arrest in Dubai over Abu Dhabi Scuffle.
"I was arrested at the airport, I didn't know security authorities had retrieved footages where i was stopping a fight after a financial misunderstanding broke out between promoters. These agencies have cameras everywhere"...beenie Gunter.

Mbarara City Council has resolved to hire the services of the Ibanda District Service Commission to conduct the recruitment of staff.
During a council meeting held at the city council hall, the councilors unanimously resolved to hire the services in a bid to enhance service delivery.
Earlier, the council had approved the interdiction of three members of the City Service Commission over allegations of corruption and misuse of office. They are Edward Karugaba Kikaraya, Lubega M. Kazooba, and Benjamin Kahigiriza.
The three are currently facing trial on charges of corruption, extortion, and abuse of office after they were arrested in September following a public outcry.
The Mayor of Mbarara City, Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi while presenting the City Executive Committee report to the councilors said that three members will be suspended until their trial concludes.
Kakyebezi asked the council to seek services from the Ibanda District Service Commission to address staff shortages, especially in the education department.
However, John Kavigi, a councillor representing the youth in Mbarara City warned against interdicting the officials, arguing that it would be procedurally wrong to interdict the commissioner while the matter is before court.
Bonny Tashobya the Speaker of Mbarara City Council said that the city was lagging in service delivery because many people were serving in acting capacity and other offices were without staff. He added that the interdiction of the service commission members would not interfere with the court proceedings.
Augustine Atwijukye Kagutiya, the chairperson Mbarara City Service Commission, declined to comment when asked about the city council resolution.
