Oliver Nakakande crowned Miss Uganda 2019/20

Oliver Nakakande has emerged the winner of Miss Uganda 2019/2020 after beating 21 other contestants. Nakakande took over the crown from Quinn Abenakyo who was Miss Uganda 2018/19 and also represented Uganda in Miss World where she emerged 2nd runner up and also crowned Miss World Africa.

The pageant that took place at Kampala Sheraton Hotel gardens on Friday in a well-built tent had different sections with VVIP, VIP and Ordinary. The people in the ordinary section despite paying Shs40,000 could hardly see what was happening on stage as most of them settled for a big screen that was put in front of them and that was where they cheered and caught up with the event.

22 contestants took to the runway and something was noticed. Most of these contestants carried to the venue a team to moral boost them with many having placards of their images and names. The ones with the loudest cheers were Nakakande’s team and their efforts didn’t go to waste as they left victors. The first stage of eliminations were not clear to the revelers which after they explained having had a private Q and A with the contestants the previous night. Petronella Acen was 1st runner up and Mariam Nyamatte was 2nd runner up.

Besides crowning, artiste Gr***de came and get the crowd a moment of music as he performed some of his songs. Myco Ouma and Jose Sax also had time to make their instruments talk. They played songs like ‘Wankona’, ‘On The Low’ and ‘Case’ among others on the Guitar and Saxophone.

At the end of the night, Nakakande drove away in her brand new Toyota Wish Red in Colour and branded Miss Uganda.

According to Forbes, the 31-year-old pop icon is now the richest female musician in the world, with a fortune totaling $600 million. And while earnings from her Grammy-winning musical career certainly helped her grow her wealth, they’re pennies compared to what her partnership with LVMH is pulling in.

Rihanna is estimated to own 15% of her famously inclusive Fenty Beauty brand, which has reportedly raked in $570 million in sales since its launch in September 2017. To put that in context, second-richest female musician Madonna‘s fortune totals the same amount.

According to the publication, the cosmetics brand is conservatively worth more than $3 billion.

💥 BREAKING: FENDI MASTER MIND GONE
Karl Lagerfeld, Designer of Chanel and Fendi, Dead at 85

Karl Lagerfeld, the designer behind Chanel, Fendi, and his own eponymous brand, has died in Paris, according to Business of Fashion. Reports say that after he was rushed to the hospital on Monday night, Lagerfeld passed on Tuesday morning. An infamous multi-hyphenate, the designer had one of the most prolific careers in fashion history, making his first mark in the industry when he won an International Woolmark Prize, then known as the International Wool Secretariat, in 1954 alongside Yves Saint Laurent.

Lagerfeld’s legacy is incomparable. In addition to putting on blockbuster shows for Chanel every season, reimagining the runway as a supermarket, working rockets, or even a coffee shop, the German designer was also one of the first to successfully produce a fast fashion collaboration in a way that didn’t “cheapen” his high fashion brand. His was the first in a now long running and highly anticipated series of collaborations with H&M.

Lagerfeld has been the artistic director of Chanel for 35 years, starting there in 1983. His contract was said to be lifelong, and he is widely attributed with reviving the house and its accessories and ready-to-wear business after the passing of its founder, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. This successful appointment followed with roles as at a number of brands, including Chloé and Pierre Balmain. His work at Fendi began as early as 1964. His long-standing relationship with the brand matured into inspiration; in January the brand’s creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi cited Lagerfeld’s personal style as inspiration for the label’s latest menswear collection.

In January, the designer, who was the recent subject of an episode of Netflix’s 7 Days Out, did not take his bow at the end of the the Chanel couture runway in January. This was presumed to be a first, as Lagerfeld’s bow, generally hand in hand with a model and/or Hudson Kroenig, the son of model Brad Kroenig, was a signature.

Today, industry veterans and celebrities expressed their mourning in tributes to the designer on Instagram. “There’s so much to say but at the same moment I’m at a loss for words,” casting director James Scully wrote in a caption. “So simply put, at a time when fashions star has become dim, you have and will always remain its brightest light.”

Steven Kolb, ceo and president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America posted one of Lagerfeld’s own quotes: “It’s up to you to make every day as perfect as possible – it’s a question of will and discipline.”

Virginie Viard, director of Chanel's fashion creation studio will take on the reigns at the historied French brand. Viard had been one of Lagerfeld's closest collaborators for more than 30 years.

Ariana Grande ⭐ Sued Over 'God Is a Woman' Music Video 🎥

The sight of Ariana Grande dancing in a candle for her "God Is a Woman" music video was too much for one artist to stand ... because he says she stole the idea from his painting.

Vladimir Kush is suing Ariana over the imagery in the music vid which was released in 2018. If you've seen it, the singer dances in silhouette inside a candle flame -- Ariana's wick.

But, Vladimir says nearly 20 years earlier he made 2 paintings called "The Candle" and "The Candle 2" ... which both featured a woman as the wick with raised arms against a partially cloudy sky.

According to the suit, the similarity is uncanny ... and a rip-off. Vladimir says Ariana's video features the same cloudy sky, ring effect of clouds around the flame and the same light beams radiating from the flame.

The production company Ariana used has experience in stealing artistic works, according to Vladimir. In the suit, he says Freenjoy, Inc and its prez were also involved in producing Kendrick Lamar's "All the Stars" video -- and you might recall ... a different artist sued over that one, also claiming a rip-off.
