Myth: Social media is free
☘️
Brands and companies flock social media with the notion that using the different platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest etc) to promote is free and fair (like the Ugandan presidential elections should be but well...)
☘️
This is actually a myth. Yes, it takes a few minutes and zero shillings to open a social media account. But social media does require time... commitment(and sometimes money) to achieve consistent and valuable content, ensure engagement, sustained growth and this doesn't even include the investment that one makes into creating ads and paid promos.
☘️
Time and money are real, hard costs. And any serious entrepreneur knows that time is a very valuable asset in these business streets.
☘️
Maybe you aren't at the point in your business where you can invest precious coin into social media by getting a professional photographer, paid promos, a copywriter, an assistant, graphics designer or even a social media manager because "banange tuli mu struggle, tetulina sente". That's fine. You've still got TIME.
☘️
Use some of that precious time and create content that keeps your followers coming back and eventually converts them into paying clientele. And COMMIT to it.
☘️
Share this with fellow entrepreneurs and small business owners who need to read this.

Are you using Instagram Highlights bulungi?
☘️
Instagram Highlights can be likened to a "Website Menu Tab" or even an "About" section. They show new followers or users who are visiting your page what your brand is all about.
☘️
The biggest mistake most brands make is failing to organise their highlights according to subject.
☘️
If you're a skin care brand or influencer and your highlights are "Dubai" "Turkey" "Paris" "New York" "Abu Dhabi" "Berlin" "Seoul" with beautiful pictures from your travels, a new follower and even old followers will wonder what your content is about. Are you a skin care expert or a travel blogger?
☘️
There's nothing wrong with sharing parts of personal life (in fact you should, to show the human element of your brand) however try to be on brand. So if you're a skin care expert, you could cluster some of the images of your travel under one Highlight titled "Travel" and within that highlight, go as far as sharing some great skin care products you found while globe trotting.
☘️
And if travel is important to you and you have so much to share on the subject, create a new page that's dedicated to your travel stories. That way your followers won't get so confused.
☘️
So... are your Instagram highlights organised?

WHAT DO I POST?
🧐
Social media is a useful tool that businesses can use to grow their client base and reach bigger audiences. To seriously leverage social, you’ve probably heard everyone say that you need to consistently show up on your channels.
😭
But what to post?

There are numerous ways to tackle this.
Today, I’ll be sharing one hack to help solve this problem.

CONTENT PILLARS.

Start with noting your business' content pillars or themes.
List at least 3 general themes that your business or personal brand addresses.
Under those general themes; list subtopics
If possible break those subtopics down even further

So for instance, if you’re a health and wellness coach, your content pillars could be:
Nutrition. Fitness. Mental Health
Under the topic “Nutrition”, you can list subtopics like:
Diet. Weight and diet. Minerals and vitamins. Nutrition for children. Family nutrition. Meal prep. Bone health. Nutrition and sleep and so on and so on.
And under each of these subtopics, break down the topics even further so you can build even more ideas.
🎉
Trust me when I say that within about five minutes, you will have countless ideas for your social media channels and your blog.
🎉
Share this post with a boss so they have content bulijo.

Why you need a social media manager
🧐
You’ve got a passion. You work hard. Your business/side-gig is flourishing. You know you need a social media presence so that your product or service is forever on people’s screens and in their frontal lobe.
👓
Naye things have refused. You’ve got to develop your product, handle clients’ never ending “how much” questions, coordinate deliveries, maintain your books of account, admin tasks. You can’t comprehend having to maintain your social media network with consistent flow of content and engagement. And when you try to juggle all these tasks, you feel like breaking down and crying and giving up and just eating popcorn or nsenene while you wait for a clone to come and take charge.
🎉
A social media manager is the clone you’ve been hoping for. She’ll break down your brand voice and values into content pillars, curate content ideas with you including post copy (captions), images and graphics for your social media platforms, find creative ways to mash these all up, take charge of engagement, engage with your followers formulate paid ads, and social reports so you know what everything you’ve been doing on your social media platforms is working. And there’s so much more that your social media manager can do for you
She’s that gango who tells you, “Tuli mu struggle shouldn’t be your mantra. I’ve got this” while you handle other important aspects of being a business owner.
