Rumination: what is it?

We tend to focus on the negative and ignore the good, regardless of time, place, events, etc. War forces us to spend twice as much energy to think: how it was once, how bad it is now, and how good it would be if there was no war.
These thoughts rob us of the strength to help, adapt to the new reality, and continue living our lives.

Rumination is an obsessive type of thinking, when the same thoughts, mostly negative, appear in a person's head, crowding out other mental activity.

How to tame your thoughts?
• Turn those obsessive thoughts into clear tasks and redirect your energy into action.
• Create a plan where you think through each necessary step to accomplish this task. This will help to understand the cause of your anxiety: why instead of doing something, you panic.
• What is the worst case scenario?
• Think, is it possible to change what you constantly think about? If the answer is negative, then you need to let go of the thought, and if you can do it, then think about specific actions - and move forward to change.
