Yellowstone National Park has done it again.
After setting an attendance record in August of more than 920,000 recreational visitors, it's set a record for September as well.
That number is 882,078 recreation visits, a National Park Service news release said. It's a 5% increase from September 2020.
Perhaps even more notable is the record number of visitors year-to-date.
So far in 2021, Yellowstone has seen 4,472,982 recreation visits, up 32% from the same period in 2020. It's as if the entire state of Oregon visited Yellowstone and invited along more than 200,000 friends.
It's the first time the park has exceeded the 4-million-visitor mark this early in the year, even before the pandemic, NPS said.
