Lake Tegernsee is located in Germany, in the Bavarian Alps, 50 km southeast of the city of Munich. The area of the lake is almost 9 square kilometers, the depth is from 36 to 72 meters. Tegernsee is one of the most picturesque lakes in the German Alps. On the banks of the reservoir there are the towns of Tegernsee, Bad Wiessee, Rottach-Egern, Gmund and Kreuth, in which the Russian Emperor Alexander I, the Austrian Kaiser Franz Joseph I and the European nobility once rested. On the lake is the former summer residence of the kings of Bavaria, which was turned into a monastery of the Benedictine order Tegernsee, founded in the 8th century. Comfortable boarding houses, hotels, apartments are built on the lake, which invite guests to spend their holidays, vacations or weekends. In the resort towns there are boutiques, shops and souvenir shops, fashionable restaurants, cozy cafes and democratic bars. For tourists, a lot of opportunities have been created for outdoor activities and water sports - yacht rental, bicycle rental, windsurfing and fishing equipment. You can take a flight in a hot air balloon and admire the lake, its picturesque surroundings and the Alps from a bird's eye view. Excellent beaches are equipped along the entire coast. In 2007, a health and climate park was opened, which has paths for jogging and Nordic walking. In winter people come to Tegernsee to go skiing and sledding, here the snow cover is preserved all winter, sufficient for winter sports. In addition, Tegernsee is famous for its excellent national cuisine, delicious cheeses, and fish dishes. Thanks to the beauty of nature, favorable climate, incredibly clear water, sulfur-iodine mineral springs and a well-developed tourist infrastructure, Lake Tegernsee is considered an extra-class balneological resort, thousands of tourists from all over the world come here to relax and improve their health.
