Spider: The Tiny Spybot 🕷

Robots and mechanized models have become common elements in modern games and cinema (hello, Star Wars). The use of such objects in contemporary games continues to grow, owing much to the success of Horizon Zero Dawn, which has inspired many.

Our animated model, a small and agile spybot fashioned in the shape of a spider, is an exciting addition to our repertoire. It's essential to note that this is a concept rather than a fully developed game model. To make it game-ready, geometry and texture optimization would be required. For now, this model is perfect for use in video production.

Despite having only three pairs of legs (while spiders typically have four), its unmistakable form leaves no doubt that it is indeed a spider. Executed in a steampunk style, it brims with technological functions: various eavesdropping and surveillance devices, an anti-detection shield, and even a self-defense mechanism—anyone attempting to capture the spider will receive a hefty shock. 💥

Spooky season 🎃✨

We want to share one of our thematic models in anticipation of Halloween. In the render, you will see an old, cracked coffin wrapped in chains, with a skeletal hand visible from a hole in the wood. At first glance, it might seem slightly eerie, but we've added a touch of cartoonish charm to this model.

To create this decoration, we transformed a high-poly model into a low-poly one while preserving its details and overall essence. The conversion required optimization, focusing on maintaining efficient edge flow and a well-defined silhouette for the low-poly version.

Through techniques such as retopology, we simplified the complex details of the original high-poly model, ensuring the primary features remained intact. At the same time, minor elements were either removed or translated into texture maps. Balancing the reduction of polygon count without compromising the visual appeal was critical to the process. We strategically leveraged normal maps, occlusion maps, and other texture maps to recreate the intricate details, ultimately optimizing the model for real-time rendering without compromising its overall visual appeal and integrity.

Modeling the Bald Eagle: Bird Anatomy and Rigging Basics

In 3D modeling and animation, attention to detail is vital when creating realistic creatures; the bald eagle is no exception. So, what stages do you need to go through?

1️⃣ Familiarize Bird Anatomy: it's crucial to understand its unique appearance (white head and tail feathers against a dark brown body, powerful wings, and beak, sharp talons) as well as bone structure (joints of the bones).

2️⃣ Creating the 3D Model: to ensure accurate proportions and that the plumage, facial features, and distinctive beak are faithfully recreated. High-resolution texture maps often capture the intricate details of the bird's feathers, eyes, and beak.

3️⃣ Rigging the Skeletal Structure: involves creating a digital skeleton for the bird, which allows animators to control its movements realistically. The rig includes bones for the wings, legs, neck, and other essential parts of the bird's body.

One of the crucial details in any video game Character is their hands. It's important not to overlook the development of hand animations because hands are always in plain view, especially in first-person perspective games, where players interact with the game world through their character's hands.

Hands, with their language, are an alternative 'speaking' part of the human body. Remember how hands were pivotal in the TV series 'Wednesday' (are you awaiting the second season?) Interesting fact - in this show, the role of Thing was played by a real actor. During filming, he wore a special blue suit so that the creators could seamlessly edit out everything but his hand. This approach was necessary to make Thing's interactions with other actors appear more realistic and emotional.

From High to Low: The G***k 26 Brown Model

We've been sharing a lot of updates from our low-poly weapon collection recently, but today, we want to showcase the high-poly model of the G***k 26 Brown pistol. This is a highly detailed, photorealistic model that can be used for rendering or in video production.
High-poly models like this offer incredible detail and realism, making them ideal for high-quality visuals. However, they can be pretty resource-intensive for real-time applications like games. To create a low-poly version from this high-poly model, we go through a process called "retopology."

Retopology involves manually or automatically creating a new, lower-resolution 3D mesh that matches the shape and features of the high-poly model as closely as possible while significantly reducing the polygon count. Some intricate structural elements, like the anti-slip serrations on the grip and trigger guard, will be replaced with high-quality textures. Unity: Realtime game location: vintage soldier's room

We're excited to share an update on our ongoing project - the French Army Soldier's Room Interior.

In the previous posts, we showcased our low-poly furniture, weapons, and accessories models and even introduced you to the main character, Officer Mark. We're thrilled to announce that we've successfully assembled all these elements into one scene in Unity.

The attention to detail and dedication to authenticity has been our top priority throughout this project. We want players to feel fully immersed in the environment as if they're stepping into a soldier's room from the past.

But our work doesn't end here! We'll continue fine-tuning and optimizing the space to ensure smooth performance and deliver a better gaming experience.
