Lol, this transitional justice series is getting out of control. I thought this would be one column, now it is heading toward four. I realized that without the cultural context, Tsai's political calculations wouldn't make sense, so delved into this topic:

One of the biggest factors in how Taiwan approaches transitional justice is cultural | 2024-03-11 19:10:00

Taiwan has yet to really have a public debate on what to do about the looming demographic disaster in any holistic, big picture way, instead they've approached the issue in bits and pieces.

Relations with India is something I've been following for awhile with interest. Interestingly, it isn't known if India has a 'one China' policy or not anymore:

Bilateral relations are growing, while India's 'one China policy' may or may not exist | 2024-02-18 16:55:00

With funding for Ukraine getting bogged down in the US and EU, it's time for Taiwan to step up, it's not on the right thing to do, it would also boost Taiwan's diplomacy, national defence and would even be good for business.

It is the right thing to do and would bring significant benefits | 2024-02-16 12:33:00

I discovered something interesting, for the last 3 election cycles, on the party list vote, almost exactly 30% of voters chose parties other than the DPP or KMT. This has some interesting implications and raises some interesting questions.

For three elections straight around 30% voted for third parties, which has interesting implications | 2024-02-14 07:42:00
