Made some dried orange and lime slices prepping for the Christmas cocktails. They add just a hint of flavor to your drinks.
1. Slice citrus thinly
2. Place parchment paper on a baking tray and evenly space slices.
3. Preheat oven to 175°

APPETIZERS
Poke Bowl
Starting with a Mini Poke bowl that's not so mini. with buttery smooth slices of salmon, tuna and snapper. A bit of corn for texture, micro greens and a touch of kewpie all over fluffy sushi rice.

Chicken Karaage
Perfect bites of succulent chicken seasoned to pack a punch and comes with the most more-ish wasabi mayo

ENTREES
Bento Box
A tang and crunchy salad to balance the richness of rice balls, shrimp tempura and even more sashimi covering sushi rice. This is one of my favorite things and Samurai

6oz Striploin with Ginger Sauce
Steak so tender you can cut it with a fork, flavorful and cooked just the way we like it, medium rare and mooing. All alongside a touch of sweet potato mash to accompany and not overshadow

DRINKS
We were lucky enough to taste all three on the menu and boy oh boy! Crafted to pair with dishes so ideally. Shout out to Trumpet for mixing up these delights.

DESSERT

Mini Banana Tempura
Truth be told, I'm not a lover of anything to do with banana but Christian absolutely loved this and finished the entire thing.

Mini Chocolate Mousse
Light, chocolatey and velvety smooth. A nice close to our Samurai Journey.

EXTRAS - not on the menu but a must have at Samurai Restaurant

Salmon Pizza
Listen! Run, don't walk, run and get this if you love salmon sashimi. Buttery salmon sashimi over a crispy tortilla that's smothered in kewpie mayo and drizzled with a bit of truffle oil. Heaven!

Char Sui Pork Tacos
Did I say Run? I meant speed, get there now.
Christian couldn't get enough of this

In closing, Samurai Restaurant could not have picked better dishes to put on their Restaurant Week Menu. well done Chef Chad. At $250.00 it's a steal of a deal.

From appetizers to desserts, Woodford Cafe exceeded our expectations, leaving us with a lingering desire to return soon.

Shrimpo de Gallo:
A Refreshing Start
We began with the Shrimpo de Gallo, a delightful shrimp ceviche bursting with flavors. The freshness of the shrimp paired with zesty lime juice and vegetables created a sensational taste. The dish was beautifully presented, and the flavors are an ideal choice for those craving a light and refreshing appetizer.

Chicken Wontons and Popcorn Chicken: Crispy Morsels

The Chicken Wontons and Popcorn Chicken were our next indulgence, and they did not disappoint. The Chicken Wontons had a tender filling encased in a delicate wrapper, served with a zingy soy sauce. The Popcorn Chicken, on the other hand, was an explosion of crispy goodness. Each bite was juicy, and the honey mustard added a delightful kick to the dish.

Sweet Potato Fries: Irresistible Sidekick

No meal is complete without a side of fries, and the Sweet Potato Fries at Woodford Cafe are a game-changer. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they were a delightful accompaniment to the main courses that awaited me.

Beyond Burger vs. BBQ Burger: The Ultimate Showdown

One of the highlights of my visit was comparing the Beyond Burger, made with a beyond meat patty, to the BBQ Burger. As a dedicated carnivore, I was skeptical about plant-based options, but Woodford Cafe's Beyond Burger proved me wrong. The patty had a meaty texture and was bursting with flavor, complemented perfectly by fresh toppings and a fluffy bun. On the other hand, the BBQ Burger offered a classic, smoky, and savory experience. Both burgers were exceptional, catering to diverse palates.

Steak Au Poivre: A Meat Lover's Meal

The Steak Au Poivre, featuring a succulent striploin steak drenched in a rich mushroom sauce, was a carnivore's dream. A few things send a Caribbean person over the moon.
1) a ripe zaboca ready to eat
2) a bag of fruit, may include mango, plum and basically anything you can make chow with
And
3) BREADFRUIT!!!
My sweet mother stopped by with the biggest breadfruit I've ever seen and before nature could make it unfit for a pot, I made oil down with it. 😍😍😍
Smoked bones was the choice of meat as The Village Leader doesn't really care for pigtail (I dunno what wrong with he) and skipped the dasheen bush as I couldn't find it on short notice.
All in all, we were a very happy household today.
Moral of the story, cook yuh breadfruit before it ripe. Even if you can't find dasheen bush

I've seen Nutella cookies on TikTok and because I have no patience for recipes I decided to play it by ear. 👀 these cookies only took 20 minutes to make. it's quick and easy, with only 3 ingredients that you probably already have.
I didn't measure but from experience this is what I used
2.5 cups flour
1.5 cups Nutella
3 whole eggs
bake at 400° for 15 minutes
you can add nuts and or chocolate chips and experiment with it.
