We are Scene, a dynamic, youth-led multimedia community founded by filmmaker Shari Petti, and based in the heart of Trinidad and Tobago. To celebrate, showcase, and faithfully tell the story of the richness and diversity that defines Caribbean people, through awe-inspiring content across various mediums. Post: On Friday 3rd November 2023, three students from the Photography Club provided support to past student Ms. Shari Petti as she screened her film "Fantastic Friday" and her short series "Mas Prep" at the Big Black Box in Woodbrook.

“Mas Prep’ featured a series of short documentaries of various aspects of traditional carnival like Jab Jab, Blue Devils and the Burrokeets. It showed the preparation, materials and the final display of each of these elements, which was very enlightening. “Fantastic Friday”, the short film showcased young local actors and provided viewers with a comical entertaining display. The film was recently screened at the Rio Cinema in London and at the Caribbean Tales film festival in Toronto. It will also be screened in Guyana and Grenada later this month.

The students in attendance were : Kaelyn O'Neil U6C, Chelsea Dunbar U6B and Teresa-Marie Phillip F4C. The experience was enjoyable as the three of us were allowed to interact and network with cast members, others in the film industry and the one and only Shari Petti.

Shari was very kind hearted and accommodating to us. From this experience we were able to better understand the inner workings of running a screening event, as well as the satisfaction of pulling it off. We would like to say a really big thank you to Shari for giving us this opportunity to get hands on experience in this sector.
