Good Samaritan robbed while assisting after teen’s fatal Beetham crash

A man who stopped to help at the scene of a fatal accident along the Beetham Highway on Tuesday night was attacked and robbed by a group of men.

Police said around 10:00 p.m., 19-year-old Kavish Persad of Aranguez was killed when his white Hyundai Ioniq crashed after colliding with another vehicle while attempting to overtake near the Beetham water main.

Persad’s car struck the water main, went airborne, and landed in a nearby waterway. He was pulled from the wreckage by passers-by.

A Longdenville man, one of those who stopped to assist, told police he was attempting to help when several men grabbed him from behind, beat him, and robbed him of $10,000 in cash, his national ID card, and his bank card. The attackers then escaped into the Beetham Gardens area.

Police responded to the scene and investigations are continuing into both incidents.— Story by Ian Alleyne Network

Tell me if this not suppose to get you angry and stir an uproar in this country? Its like these people on the betham don't want betterment . Countless have ended up having to stop there because of emergency Tyre blow out or something and every single time they are being beaten, robbed and the list goes on. This needs to stop and the police need to Crack down now. The first thing they will say is people are biased towards them. No they are causing their own trouble. Its very disgusting. They are not in control of the law in the beerham . The law needs to take the lead and start dealing with this now. To many years this happening.

Good Samaritan beaten and robbed while trying to save crash victim on Beetham Highway

A Central businessman was attacked and robbed after stopping to assist at the scene of a fatal Beetham Highway accident on Tuesday night.

Ian Harrow said he pulled over on the eastbound lane to help 19-year-old crash victim Kavish Persad when a group of men ambushed him, beat him, and stole $10,000 in cash along with his ID and bank cards. The suspects escaped through the Beetham.

Harrow, who had just returned to T&T, said his good intentions were met with violence as he attempted CPR on Persad. He is now warning the public not to stop along the highway, even to render aid.— Trinidad Guardian
