Up until a couple of years ago, Emirgan was one of those streets where you just passed through to go somewhere else, but now it is one of the most frequented ones around Sarıyer. Misk Istanbul Café / Florist is one of the reasons for this hype. If you are in Istanbul and browsing Instagram's explore page, it is impossible not to see a photo taken in Misk Floral Cafe.

It was on 21 November, 2014 in Ukraine. In Kiev’s Maidan Nezalezhnosti was a protest going on. After Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych ousted and the government collapsed, animals living in the government funded zoos faced starvation. Lionel de Lange, who has been living in Ukraine since 2006, was shocked and saddened by the news. Little did the poor animals know that this South African man was a new beginning for them.

Turks have always loved vivid colours in buildings, walls, clothings in everything. Many Anatolian villages are full of colourful tiny houses. The old mosques and old state buildings are embellished by floral motifs with lively hues. Both men and women loved colour in their life. The wedding dresses were bright red. But the gentle colour of pink like in the old Is Bankasi Museum or this mosque wall will surprise you unexpectedly.

🌸 is the latest instagram hit of Istanbul.
🌸Our personal recommendation here:
✨First, definitely take some photos,
✨and then order an orange chocolate cheesecake and lavender tart accompanied with one cup of their lovely selection of tea
✨take more photos.
🌸There is also good coffee served in lovely pink go-to cups. However the porcelain tea cups are beyond beautiful.
💕We are excited to see their new design for the upcoming St. Valentine’s day.
🌸Resembling the Peggy Porschen’s entrance in London, this cute cafe is located in the back streets of Ortaköy.

✨Probably, Rumi is the most popular figure in the Sufi culture around the world. And so is his famous quote “Come, come, whoever you are.”
✨Like in other religions, in Islam too, there are important religious figures like saints in the Christian religion.
✨According to the Sufi tradition, visiting the tomb of a such person and praying for their soul will help you to endure the hardships of life more, inspire you to become stronger, make you understand the resident of the tomb’s life philosophy.
✨As in the case of this photo, there resides an important figure in Turkey’s history named “Hasan Sezai”, who is not as famous as Rumi however, his forgiveness and acceptance of the people despite whoever they were was as great as Rumi’s.

✨The most crowded alleyway of Eminönü is the one that through the Spice Bazaar which may become too overwhelming at certain times.
✨And you may find yourself far from the crowd, maybe looking for the famous sweet shops like Hacı Bekir or Hafız Mustafa or a calm café corner like Rumi Kahve & Çikolata towards Sirkeci, and probably notice an old, pink and imposing stone building.
✨This building was originally open as a post office in 1892, during the Ottoman Empire era reigned by Sultan Abdülhamid II.
✨In 1927, the building turned over to a bank called “İş Bankası”.
✨Besides its architectural beauty, the building is also a museum, housing very precious items from the banking history of Turkey.
✨In addition to the permanent collection, the museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.
✨Read more about the Is Bankasi Museum via the link in bio.

✨Floriography, the language of flowers, was popularised in Europe through people who visited the Ottoman Empire, especially the court of Constantinople.
✨Lady Mary Wortley Montagu brought this language with her to England on her way back from Constantinople and Aubry de La Mottraye introduced it to the Swedish court.
✨In fact, the Ottoman-Greek and Ottoman-Armenian women helped Joseph Hammer-Purgstall understand the language of flowers and translate Turkish sayings to French on the famous book “Dictionnaire du language des fleurs”.
