Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is facing a severe financial crisis, compelling the national flag carrier to ground several leased aircraft and causing arrears with creditors, aircraft lessors, and other suppliers. The Ministry of Aviation has warned that without immediate financial support of Rs23 billion and the suspension of duties, taxes, and service charges, PIA may struggle to remain operational during its complex eight-month restructuring process. According to a suit filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the incumbent Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) omitted facts in order to be qualified for the position he now holds.

On Thursday, a security force convoy narrowly avoided a su***de attack on Miramshah road in Bannu.

The Federal Investigation Agency searched various stores in Chowk Yadgar here on Thursday, the province's major currency market, as part of a crackdown on illegal forex transactions and smuggling of US dollars.
