The SNUS President Colani Maseko in class. In the photo, he's with his beautiful/handsome learners. He is doing Teaching Practice (TP). We wish him and all others doing TP well. Teaching is a permanent job. No educator should be on a fixed term contract for fifteen (15) years whilst facilitating teaching and learning. Only relief teachers ought to be on contract.

MEET THE FIRST GOVT OFFICIAL TO SOLVE A CONFLIT THROUGH NEGOTIATIONS.

Malkens: Credit must be given where it is due. The Malkens Station Commander yesterday demonstrated leadership when solving a volatile situation through constant engagement and negotiation.

The Eswatini Government normally quell protests and gatherings through the use of Teagases, Rubber Bullet, and stun gr***de.

However, it was a different situation in Malkens yesterday when Khumalo ordered Soldiers to leave the protesters to him.

The Malkens Public Transport had marched to the police station where they were following up on a case of their colleague who was killed allegedly by a Police Officer who was identified as Nkola.

However, tensions escalated after the workers were not happy with the initial answers that they were getting from the Malkens Station Commander.

They went to the nearest road and blocked transport while forcing motorists to give them money for safe passage.

The first batch of soldiers arrived fully armed with a gun but Transport Operators refused to disperse telling the soldiers to shoot or leave the scene.

It was then, that the Station Commander emerged to engage the protesters who were scattered on the Malkens roads.

Another consignment of soldiers arrived fully armed to the tooth and ready to shoot protesters but was asked by the station Commander to leave the scene.

Through engagements, the station Commander took the protesters into confidence which calmed the situation.

If it wasn't for the Malkens Station Commander, yesterday's situation could have manifested into another June 2021 situation.

The country's authorities should learn a thing or two from the conduct of Mr. Khumalo who remained resolute despite all sorts of insults being hurled at him.

He touched so many protesters when he offered to transport an injured worker to the hospital.

TSC CHAIRMAN:I am not aware of any mandate to fire SNAT President.

BY BONGIWE DLAMINI
Swaziland News, 11th August 2022

MBABANE: Dr Amos Dlamini, the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC)says he is not aware of any mandate to fire Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT).
This comes after the SNAT President advised teachers not to report to work on Monday and Tuesday as per an order issued by the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces (SISF).
It has been disclosed that Dlamini allegedly communicated a resolution taken by the union.
The Ministry of Education recently sent Dlamini a letter asking him to provide justification as to why he shouldn't be charged with misconduct.
Reached for comments by Swaziland News on Thursday, Dr Amos Mahlalela, the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), denied being directed to fire the SNAT President.
“I am unaware of any order to fire Mbongwa. I read bout what you are asking on Mbongwa’s social media page and the Times. My comment ends here," said the TSC Chairman when interviewed by editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
On another note, the Spokesperson of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces (SISF) told this publication that they will protect the SNAT President and other teachers who might be victimised by the government for refusing to report to work on Monday and Tuesday amid security threats.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Mbongwa Dlamini, the SNAT President, said he was communicating a resolution by the teachers' union and wondered why he was being charged in his personal capacity.
Reached for comments, Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students (SNAT), said they fully support the SNAT President and warned TSC that chaos would erupt should Mbongwa Dlamini be victimized.
“Sebadlala kabi-ke nyalo, as the Students Union, we have a special relationship with SNAT and we are watching the matter of President Mbongwa very closely. Uma kungenteka nje bakwente loku labafuna kukwenta, batawubona labangazange sebakubone, kuncane loku labakubona last year,"said the Students Union President.

Power of journalism is grounded on credibility, public trust.

BY ZWELI MARTIN DLAMINI
Swaziland News, 13th July 2022

Credibility, establishing and maintaining public trust remains the pillar of journalism whose primary objective is to act in the public interest.
After realizing that they lacked public trust and credibility, State controlled journalists dedicated their energy trying to discredit the independent media without understanding that journalists who are bound to succeed are those who suffer and stand with the masses in difficult times.
The Michello-Shakantu media project that seeks to attack the independent media will not succeed because both Shakantu and his team of State journalists lack credibility and public trust.
Information is rated based on the credibility of the author, evidence that substantiates allegations and its source.
Perhaps one can make an example about anyone who desires to counter information that was published or broadcasted by CNN, he or she must consider getting a platform on BBC or Aljazeera because these media organizations are on the same level of competence.
The State journalists who desire to counter information that influences the calls for democratic reforms must first understand that journalism that influences change must be grounded on credibility and public trust.
Public trust once established, is maintained everyday, every hour and every minute.
Swazis who were born in the 1970s are now grandparents, the 80s and 90s are parents and the 2000s are primary, high school and University students.
This means the eSwatini population is now dominated by educated citizens with access to information through DSTVs, social media and other platforms
Any State journalist who thinks he or she can create a platform just to mislead the people will have a tough time.
Swazis who live in Matsapha and surrounding areas that include Logoba,Mathangeni, Ndzevane and Kwaluseni witnessed the June 2021 massacre and attended funerals of their relatives.
Imagine if a State journalist would then write an article trying to defend the State, saying the brutality that was witnessed by the people never happened, that captured scribe would be ‘honoured ’ with only two(2) Facebook likes.
In conclusion, it is important to emphasize that the pillar of journalism is credibility and public trust, this is earned through hard work, integrity and the perseverance to act in the public interest.

Swaziland Today.
SWATO editor: Skhalo.

27 June 2022.

SITHOBELWENI: Members of the Swaziland Liberation Movement were able to hand over the house key to the elderly family at Sithobelweni even though Mswati's police tried to stop them as they advanced to the location. The SWALIMO members who meant business could not allow the police to change their plan. They had come for the hand over and nothing would stop them. Police tried every mean, even threatening to beat them up but they proceeded by saying there is no law refusing them the right to visit that homestead.

Gift Mandlenkhosi Dlamini who is the Deputy Secretary General was leading the throngs of Swaziland Liberation Movement members who went to hand over the house to the destitute family. After burying their President's father Zeblon Swelezakhe Simelane they proceeded to the homestead. The elderly couple expressed so much gratitude for this help from the Movement.
