HER Voice Fund provides support for the meaningful engagement and leadership of Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and community-based organizations into Global Fund and other national and district level processes.
The Liphimbo Lami AGYW Engagement therefore aims to empower AGYW in Eswatini to advocate for their Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and reduce vulnerability to HIV by 2024. It also aims to strengthen the voices of AGYW in advocating for their meaningful participation in the HIV response through approaches to strengthen advocacy efforts to reduce vulnerability to HIV infection and improve access to SRHR for AGYW in Eswatini by
2024.
Gender-based violence (GBV) is a serious issue in Eswatini. According to the United Nations Development System in Eswatini, women are particularly vulnerable to the devastating effects of GBV. The Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice reports that GBV has been prevalent in Eswatini for a sustained period of time. The Human Rights Watch estimates that 48% of girls between the ages of 13 to 24 have experienced some form of sexual violence, with 1 in 3 Swazi women experiencing sexual violence by the time they are 18.
The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign that runs from November 25 to December 10 every year. The campaign aims to raise awareness about GBV and to encourage people to take action to end it.
It is important to raise awareness about GBV and to encourage victims to report incidents of violence.
