Congratulations to the Central Bank of Eswatini!

| CBE AMONGST THE BEST CENTRAL BANKS IN THE WORLD |

The Bank joined winners of the 2022 Central Banking Awards to accept and celebrate the Website of the Year Award during a virtual awards presentation held yesterday.

This follows the announcement of CBE website as the best 2021 Central Bank website in the world, made earlier this year. The Annual Central Banking Awards, now in their ninth year, recognize excellence in the central banking community.

“I am deeply honoured to accept this prestigious Central Banking Award on behalf of the Central Bank of Eswatini. We receive this Award fresh from a strategy review session where we recommitted ourselves to be an agile and innovative central Bank that strategically collaborates with all stakeholders within our ecosystem to enable and sustain financial stability in the Kingdom of Eswatini. This Award will definitely inspire the entire team at the Central Bank of Eswatini,” the Governor said in his acceptance speech.

The website is a symbolic balance of our rich culture and technology advancements that caters for the needs of our ever-evolving stakeholders. Post this award, the Central Bank of Eswatini will continue to share carefully curated content to drive public engagement and education across all media platforms to empower the public with accurate information.

| IS IT ILLEGAL TO USE DYE-STAINED NOTES? |

Yes. If an ATM/ CIT van is attacked, cash protection devices spray notes with a permanent green/blue ink making them illegal to use.

_How to identify a dye-stained note

• Look, feel and smell - Dye-stained banknotes look, feel or smell different than genuine banknotes.
• The staining - bluish purple or green around the edges of the notes or across one side as though the notes have been dipped in ink.
• Burning or charring - This may be as a result of the heat used in smoke systems.

And yes, you can be arrested if found in possession of dye-stained banknotes because there is a presumption that such notes are proceeds of crime. Ignorance of the law is no excuse.
