The initial idea of DeirAlZor Press Network was brainstormed by a few Syrian activists from DeirAlZor in March of 2011 as an important initiative for providing accurate news about the city, and was officially launched in Mid July. The main aim of this initiative was to provide accurate and speedy news updates about pro-democracy demonstrations in the eastern province of DeirAlZor, and furthermore
document the brutal behavior of the Syrian regime. We now have decided to start providing news from the province of DeirEzzor in English to cater to our large English-speaking audience. We are independent Syrian activists, and we do not have any affiliation with any form of political groups or organizations nor we have any connection or affiliation with any television channels such as Barada TV. We are aiming to cover a wide range of activities including, but not limited to: the day to day life in the province and documenting the number of protesters killed or injured. We also wish to provide an alternative to the Syrian state news media. How are we going to Communicate? All of our news/ videos will be published on Facebook to ensure that members are always up-to-date with our recent activities. You all are welcome to join us and we appreciate your input.
