Today we celebrate the feast of the Apostle, Saint Matthias. His election into the College of Apostles is one we are certainly familiar with. His choice was ordained by God, and the election was guided by the Holy Spirit. But this election was not one of prestige, power or fame, but one of service. Matthias, like the rest of the apostles, witnessed to the message of the gospel with all of his being, even to the point of shedding his blood and embracing the crown of martyrdom. Indeed, his life was a response to the words of Christ in today's gospel, 'No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends. Jesus showed the way by by dying dying on the Cross for the sake of love; Matthias and the other apostles followed, offering everything in answer to our Lord's commandment of love, and today we too are called to love God, and our brothers and sisters sincerely, and to be willing to make sacrifices in the measure that this love demands.

On the 28th April 2024, the English Choir of St Theresa's Cathedral kator-Juba, conducted their general election, they have elected 14 executive members this will includs the appointment of 1 adviser and 1 choir mistress and 1 music director.God bless the new leadership.

Jesus speaks of Himself as a grain of wheat that falls on the ground and dies, and in dying yields a rich harvest. He is saying that by giving our lives away for His sake we find our lives. By serving Him and others we come to live with Him. "Wherever I am," He says, "my servant will be there too." In the same vein, Paul declares in the First Reading to the Church in Corinth that they will experience God's blessings in abundance if they give generously and cheerfully to the needy Church in Jerusalem. This is the heart of the Christian message. It is in dying that we find life; it is in giving that we receive; it is in serving the Lord and His people that we obtain honour from God. On this feast of St Lawrence we pray that we will be as generous and cheerful in our giving as he was.

To abide in Jesus means to remain in him, do his will, and experience his love. This guarantees a life of joy, hope and fruitfulness. We prove to be Jesus’ disciples and glorify God when we live such a life of abundant joy and fruitfulness. This abiding of the disciple in the Lord is like the branch of a tree connected to its trunk. The branch receives its life giving sap from the tree. Cut the branch off from the tree to its own peril, it loses its life giving source. Christian life is a life of oneness with Jesus. Apart from him we have no life, but are dead and useless. With him we are alive and fruitful. Lord, grant that we may abide in you and produce fruits in abundance.

May Devotion

The Truth is, our Mother Mary is the Mother of Jesus who is the truth. Whoever knows the truth shall always be set free.

We cannot know the truth if we avoid opportunities that will make us to become friends with and of Jesus. The Holy Spirit will teach us the truth as He taught our Mother Mary and when we have the truth in us we will be able to teach those who do not know about Jesus the truth to come and know Him.

Join us every Wednesday from 4:00pm for Rosary prayer and from 5:00pm to 6:00pm bible teaching. Then on Saturday from 7:15 am bible sharing specially for the readers
