Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the Nobel Peace prize laureate who helped end apartheid in South Africa, has died. He was 90.

Archbishop Emeritus and anti-apartheid campaigner Desmond Tutu has died at the age of 90.

On Sunday, President Cyril Ramaphosa released a statement confirming the passing.

The man who coined the phrase "the Rainbow Nation" and was affectionately known as "the Arch" has been fighting prostate cancer for roughly two decades.

The reverend Desmond Mpilo Tutu was a fierce campaigner for human rights and dignity.

Nelson Mandela described him as "sometimes strident, often tender, never afraid and seldom without humour," adding that "Desmond Tutu's voice will always be the voice of the voiceless". He fought openly and passionately against oppression, racism, poverty and homophobia.

Born in Klerksdorp in 1931 and having studied teaching and theology, Tutu became increasingly active in the fight against apartheid as a young man and rose to worldwide fame during the 1980s as a vocal opponent of the apartheid system.

In 1984 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.

By 198,6 Tutu had become the first black person to lead the Anglican Church in Southern Africa and used his position to fight for peace and justice.

After South Africa finally held its first democratic elections, Tutu was appointed chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) set up to deal with the atrocities of apartheid.

In the years after the TRC ended, Tutu continued to speak out on moral and political issues.

Four Somali nationals detain in Kampala

The joint anti-terror security agencies have in detention four Somali nationals with their close relatives who were arrested with a suspected bomb detonating device while trying to access Speke Resort Hotel Munyonyo. Police found the bomb in a car during a check-up of the vehicle which was entering the resort and was being driven by a Somali national identified as Abudul Karim Moyo a resident of Lungujja in Lubaga division.

A controversial local music sensation, lady Kola has turned down an opportunity for award terming the nominating agency as tribal, not worth her taking award from

Kola believes it will be unhealthy for the country if each tribe designs its own award.

Zambia’s new President Hakainde Hichilema has sacked the country’s military chiefs and replaced all police commissioners.

Hichilema announced new commanders of the Zambian army, the air force, and the national service on Sunday – and urged them to “have the interest of the people at heart.” "No one should be arrested before investigations are concluded," he said.

Hichilema was previously arrested and detained by the previous government of Edgar Lungu

Obbo Community in shock as an identity of a female impersonator revealed.

Community of Obbo of Magwi County of Eastern Equatoria State are left in shock after a real identity of an eighteen year old man whom the community knew as a girl is revealed.

Report indicates that the man who was known by the community as Beatrice Achayo Ogwiti interacted and shared many things including sleeping room with other girls as well as playing football in the female team.

However, Ogwiti made his gender public after marrying his best female friend Aber Mercy from Palwar last week.

Both Aber and Ogwiti are said to be long term girl friends who used to do things together.

None of the community members ever thought or suspected Beatrice Achayo Ogwiti whose football nickname was Lukaku to be a male.

Mr. Samuel Okene Tumbo the father to Aber Mercy who is now the wife to Ogwiti says, he learnt about the incident after his daughter went missing from home.

He says, both his daughter Aber and now turned husband Ogwiti used to share a room whenever the two visited each other.

According to the father of Aber, the now son in-law even experienced a monthly period while visiting Aber in Palwar.

"we have been looking for my daughter for almost a week she was missing, we heard she was in Obbo, and we asked her how did you escape from Palwar? She said she escaped with her husband, which husband? That the one they used to sleep together in the same room, how did she turn into a man? They used to stay as girl, of recent when they disappeared, she turned into a man, and she has male organ. When she was with us here, she also experienced menstruation which she started experiencing from the market and elderly women advised her to go and change the dress dirty with blood and she changed the dress, now i don’t understand whether it is satanic or what i don’t know, she turned into a man. It is difficult to understand this, even when we asked my daughter from here she testify that the girl is functioning as a man not a woman",he added

Head teacher for Obbo Nursery and Primary school Mr. Okeny Julious Kakinya where Ogwiti studied says, the suspect was enrolled into the school with the name Bismark Paul as he testified to the school administration that he was already transformed into a male but never wanted to be known as one.

"This child came and registered with us here in school in first term with a name Bismark Paul, he registered in primary eight, he told me clearly that he is a boy, he is not a girl, i asked how, during the inter-Payam Tournament you played with girls, how come this change, she said, she was a girl but now she changed into a boy, after that i sent the senior woman teacher to ask him he said he was a girl but now she is a boy and if he tells the detail to the madam something wrong will happen to the madam and to him too",said the head teacher.

Inspector of Police in Obbo Payam Michael Kuku confirms that Ogwiti is a male and not a female as viewed before.

"I heard, but i did not see this girl or a boy, but what people say is that, this girl or boy was playing football together with girls and the shape is a shape of a man, i don’t know why, but for now I don’t know where this confusion come from. I told the person on duty to check and we found he is a man, we don’t know where she got the manhood from, and that she was a girl, the secret is with his God but we checked he is a man but before she was a girl and secondly I called the uncle from Owiny, and he said the mother refused to come",he stated.

On the other hand, Owiny-ki–bul boma Chief Mr. Michael Obany who is also an uncle to Ogwiti says that though Ogwiti was born as a girl and given a female name, she had complained of lack of breast which scared boys from her.

The uncle claimed, Ogwiti was given some herbs by Juba based Congolese herbalist to help develop breast which instead resulted to the development of the male organ.

"Ogwiti was born as a girl, and was named after four days, she is a girl, Ogwiti grew up to 12 years as a girl, but from that age she started experiencing changes, she used to walk together with girls but when they go to bath at the stream, she separated herself from them, it seems she is an amoprodide. I asked her how come you bring a wife and you are a girl who told you that? She said she is not a woman, the truth is that she was given a herb by a Congolese from Juba so that she develop breast, because she lacks breast and the herb she took changed her",he added.

Though it’s not clear whether Ogwiti has both male and female organs, clinical officer at Obbo PHCC Mr. Losimoi Simon who conducted a blood test on the suspect considers Ogwiti’s situation as a common congenital abnormality.

"they brought them yesterday, the police demanded for blood check up, this is what we did, apart from that one, there is no any other thing we did. Issue of amophrodide, it is the common congenital abnormality that normally happened during delivery, congenital abnormality always it happen at the age whereby when the person grow up to a certain age whereby you start experiencing primary characteristic of adolescent, so you will find that the two organs which are there prominent, one of them may go dormant and one of them will be active but it doesn’t mean that one organ will disappear completely",the doctor said.

Meanwhile, Rev. Gerald Ochaya the chairperson for Inter-Church committee in Obbo Payam calls on the citizen to keep their faith and prayers to God so as to overcome such situations.

"This has never happened before, but with the power of evil spirit it is possible, devil will turn in anyway round, it seems the devil has started to reveal his character to be known, and this is the revelation because the devil will turn into a woman, into a man, into anything. People should know that things which are happening are the signs of the end, because the kingdom of darkness is working, but we want to give hope to the people so that they stand firm in their faith, this will spoil their lives, if they continue listening to deception, the sign is now seen in a girl who is now turned into a man, that is just the beginning, more will happen, the devil has more plans to do more than that",the Reverend commented.

Both Ogwiti and his wife Aber are currently held at Magwi police custody waiting to appear in Court on Thursday.
