BREAKING: One person injured in crossfire as wildlife officers and hunters clash in Jonglei

At least one person was shot in the hand following the clashes between wildlife officers and hunters in Bor Town, Jonglei State.

The incident occurred in Tibek residential area near Jonglei State's Ministry of Wildlife on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, when wildlife officers confiscated the motorbike and bushmeat from the hunter.

The Wildlife Ministry in Jonglei State is said to have issued a statement banning the killing of wild animals, stating if anyone is found with bush meat, they will be arrested while motorbike and bush meat would be confiscated.

However, the hunters seem to have not abided by the law, a cause leading to such an incident.

This is a developing story, and more details will follow when they become available.

South Sudanese Singer Slate Nation to Release New Song Featuring President Kiir

South Sudanese singer Slate Nation, based in Australia, has announced that he will release a new song titled "I'm Looking for Solution," featuring President Salva Kiir Mayardit, next week.

Slate Nation stated that he is the only singer in South Sudan whom President Kiir trusts to collaborate with him.

"The new song 'SOLUTION' - Baba Salva Kiir Mayardit ft. Big Nation is dropping next week! 'I'M LOOKING FOR SOLUTION' Big Nation x SKM!!! I’m the only person he trusts to collaborate," the singer shared on his page.

This is not the first collaboration between Slate Nation and the president. In 2020, he released a song titled "INU," [Mathokrap], which included the president's voice added to the beat, and the song went viral.

The National Ministry of General Education has announced that the marking of Primary Eight and Senior Four examinations will begin on Wednesday, following the receipt of 2 billion SSP from the Ministry of Finance on Monday.

Director of Examinations, Simon Nyok stated that the Ministry of General Education had requested 7 billion SSP to cover the marking of both the Certificate of Primary Education and the Certificate of Secondary Education for 2024.

He added that the ministry will continue engaging with the Ministry of Finance to secure the remaining 5 billion SSP.

"The money we have received is not enough, it's just an amount that will enable us to begin the work," said Nyok.

Following the recent opening of schools across the country, most of the students have already joined secondary schools while they wait for their results to be released.

BREAKING NEWS: Fire Breakout in Ayuang Residential Area, NBGs

This morning, a fire broke out in Ayuang area of Northern Bahr Ghazal State, affecting over 10 households. The incident occurred behind the NRC compound.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the fire caused significant damage, including the destruction of a Premio car, beds, and mattresses.

The UNMISS firefighting team arrived on the scene and successfully contained the blaze, preventing further spread.

This incident marks a troubling trend, as it is not the first fire to occur in Aweil town this year; similar events were reported last month in Hai Medira and Machar Kunyuk areas.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the full extent of the damage. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

New Division Three Commander Takes Office in Wun-Yiik

Major General Malong Agat Athuai, who succeeded Major General Angon Ungom Chuot, has officially taken over as the commander of the Third Infantry Division today, February 17, 2025, in Wun-Yiik, Aweil East County, the headquarters of the Third Infantry Lion Division.

The event was attended by Simon Ober Mawut, the governor of Northern Bahr Ghazal State. During the ceremony, Governor Mawut promised to work closely with the new commander and the leadership of the Lion Division to protect South Sudan from external threats and ensure the safety of its citizens.

JUSTIN: Oliver Majok Aleu and Ambassador Garang Diing Akuong Reconcile After Two-Year Dispute

The Secretary-General of the Abiem Community in Juba Mr. Achien Garang Bol has announced that the leadership of the Aweil East Community Association in Juba, under the auspices of Ambassador Garang Deng Aguer Dau and in collaboration with the Ministry of Reconciliation Church, has successfully mediated the reconciliation of Hon. Oliver Majok Aleu Ngor and Ambassador Garang Diing Akuong. This reconciliation brings an end to a prolonged dispute that spanned two years.

The peace and reconciliation handshake ceremony was officially concluded today, February 17, 2025, at Aron International Hotel in Juba. The event was attended by community leaders, members of the ministry, and other stakeholders committed to fostering unity.

During the event, both parties to the conflict assured the public of their renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding. They further called upon all individuals who were involved or affected by the conflict to join in the spirit of peace and be part of this symbolic handshake of unity.

The resolution of this dispute is a significant step toward restoring harmony within the Wun-Anei community. The leadership has urged all sons and daughters of the community, both at home and abroad, to embrace the same spirit of reconciliation and work collectively to rebuild trust and unity.

The handshake between Hon. Oliver Majok Aleu Ngor and Ambassador Garang Diing Akuong was witnessed by the Aweil East Community Chairperson, Ambassador of God Garang Deng Aguer, alongside officials from the Ministry of Reconciliation Church.

This event marks not only the end of a longstanding conflict but also a renewed commitment to peace, unity, and community cohesion.
