Awer Bul Mabil (born 15 September 1995) is a professional soccer player who plays as a winger, most recently for Swiss Super League club Grasshoppers. Born as a South Sudanese refugee in Kenya, he plays for the Australia national team.

Mabil played youth soccer at the South Australian National Training Centre and with Adelaide United. He made his senior debut for Campbelltown City, before making his debut in the A-League for Adelaide United in 2013.

He is co-founder of the humanitarian charity Barefoot to Boots, which aims to improve health, education, and gender equality among refugees, as well as equipping young refugees with sports equipment. In January 2023 he was named Young Australian of the Year.

Mabil was born on 15 September 1995 to South Sudanese parents in Kakuma, located in northwestern Kenya. He lived with his family in the Kakuma Refugee Camp until the age of 10 when they moved to Australia and settled in Adelaide. He first began playing football at the Kenyan refugee camp at around the age of five, stating: "We would just go outside and start kicking around. It was not structured and there was little else to do".They played with bare feet and used a rolled-up sock as a football.During a 2022 World Cup qualifier, Mabil said "I was born in a hut, a little hut. My hotel room here is definitely bigger than the hut, the room we had as a family in that refugee camp".

Mabil attended St Columba College throughout his teenage years in Adelaide,graduating in 2013.

His elder brother is Awer G. Bul, who is director of Barefoot to Boots, which he co-founded.

Mabil's 19-year-old sister Bor was killed in a car crash in Adelaide in 2018.

He went to school with good friend, fellow-refugee and Socceroo Thomas Deng.

The truck full of books and other stationery tipped over and its rollover. The stationery spilled out on the ground, and they're safe without anyone stealing them. If it was liquor or foodstuff, it would've been a mess of looters.

192km Juba - Nimule Road completed in 2012 cost $225 million. The road was a gift from USAID.

The distance from Juba - Lobonok is 64.8km according to a quick Google search, and Economic Cluster has just approved a whooping $402 million for the construction.

🚨OPINION

South Sudan Government to prioritise repairing or Nimule-Juba Highyway

Hope the Economic Cluster is aware of the technicalities in the FY 2024/2025 Budget. Roads Infrastructure was allocated Zero (0) Capital due to Grand Mismanagement of the existing Roads Construction Projects.

The Budget is now an Act. (Appropriation Act) It cannot be changed except through a Supplementary Budget.

Moreover, all Loans shall be Scrutinized and approved by the Parliament considering its terms and conditions, priority and prudence. There should be no Short cut. The Ministry of finance is aware of such standing constitutional procedure.

While It is important to connect all our rural areas with good roads and better services. The cost and means of doing such should be realistic. juba-Nimule Road (193Km) cost USD 225M and the proposed Juba-Lobonok Road (~100km) is USD 402M. Huge difference.

It's also important to note that a good Juba -Lobonok-pageri road has the potential of diverting traffic away from the current dilapidated juba-Nesitu (Check point)-Aruu-Nimule Road.

The Economic Cluster should prioritize the repair of the Juba-Nimule road, the economic lifeline of the country.

Decision to Prioritize the Juba-Lobonok Road Over the Juba-Nimule Road.

While the Juba-Lobonok road may have its own significance, prioritizing it over the Juba-Nimule road reflects a short-sighted approach that does not adequately address South Sudan's economic and regional connectivity needs. Re-evaluating this decision is essential for long-term national and regional development.

Poor road conditions on the Juba-Nimule road continue to affect the livelihoods of traders, transport operators, and border communities. Addressing these issues would directly benefit both South Sudanese citizens and neighboring countries involved in trade.

South Sudan faces multiple infrastructure challenges, and decisions must be made based on thorough cost-benefit analysis. The economics cluster seems to have overlooked the strategic importance of the Juba-Nimule road, which is vital for national and regional development.

Alier John magot simply known as Alijoma Mabil is a young South Sudanese artist doing Afro beats, reggae and Dancehall genres.
Alijoma was born in Nyaang Pathuyith on 28th, August 1991 and raised in Bor Town.

Alijoma got his musical inspiration from Congolese artists such as Awilo Longomba, Koffi Olumide and more, Alijoma used to listen to their songs on his mother's radio in the early 2000's,
More inspiration came from the South Sudanese legends including Panchol Deng Ajang, John Kudusay, Bol Panan just to mention but a few, Alijoma Mabil has touched the hearts, minds and souls of many people all over the world through his entertaining, educating and inspiring multi genre music. He has also accumulated thousands of views on YouTube and Facebook.

With the great passion he had for music, Alijoma went ahead to release his first song in 2010 "Let's go to school" under the stage names "Nicky Jay" which garnered local recognition for the singer but never met the expected success by the singer, this proved to Alijoma that music needed hard work and constant practice.
In 2011 Alijoma resorted to freestyle and live performances to improve his vocals, lyrics and most importantly confidence, he did this alongside other Bor Town up-and-coming artists like YD, Money Maniac, the list is endless...Alijoma interacted and shared ideas with several other singers in Bor Town.

The hard work paid when Alijoma released his second song, "we need freedom" which garnered further recognition in Eastern Equatorial and this gave the young singer hope to do music with more determination despite the difficulties singers faced then.

In 2013, Alijoma released three songs "En la khör wëu (Gold Digger)", "Louis Labong", and "Atehwut" under the stage names "Chrizz Nickey" which became great hits of 2013 to 2014 and earned Alijoma respect from fellow artists and support from the fans. Therefore I suggest that the Federation of South Sudan Football and South Sudan Premier League should look for TV company that can broadcast all SSPL matches.
