The South Sudan Football Association has stated that it will not tolerate any actions that threaten the integrity of football in the country, following the protest by Koryom fans at the stadium over Magwi herder-farmer conflict where more than 40 lost lives.

Marking of South Sudan's 2024 P.8 and S.4 examination papers have been delayed due to financial constraints.

The National Examination Council (NEC) is still seeking funds to begin marking the 2024 Primary 8 and Senior 4 examination papers. Meanwhile, schools across the country reopened on 3rd Feb. 2025 for the 2025 academic year.

The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has assured the public that the NEC will commence marking as soon as funds become available.

Bor Community to hold press conference this afternoon on herder-farmer conflict in Eastern Equatoria State.

The Bor Community has scheduled a press conference this afternoon to address the recent herder-farmer conflict in Eastern Equatoria State.

According to Wal Agutwong Chath, the Secretary-General of the Bor Community, media houses in Juba are invited to attend the press briefing at 2:00 PM on February 3, 2025, at the BCYC Complex grounds, located next to Sudken Shirkat.

The press conference follows violent clashes in Magwi County on Aru Junction, Eastern Equatoria State, where reports indicate that more than 30 cattle herders—believed to be Dinka from Bor—were killed over the weekend. The attacks were allegedly carried out by suspected Murle-affiliated youth from Eastern Equatoria.

Breaking News: USAID deletes its Twitter account following its foreign fundings suspension by US president Trump.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) account on X (formerly Twitter), with nearly a million followers, has been deleted.

The agency’s website is also down.

Earlier, Musk called USAID a criminal organization that “needs to die.” He also claimed to have spoken with Trump, who allegedly agreed to eliminate it entirely.

Juba Stadium protest over Magwi deadly clashes, ignites public debate.

A protest at Juba National Stadium during a South Sudan Premier League match has ignited debate over whether sports venues should be used for demonstrations.

The incident occurred on Sunday during the match between Koryom FC and Kator FC, as fans voiced their anger over the recent herder-farmer conflict in Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria State. Reports indicate that more than 30 people lost their lives in the clashes.

The demonstration raised concerns among some spectators, who argued that football stadiums should remain spaces for unity and entertainment rather than political activism.

Arok, an observer at the match, criticized the protest, emphasizing that such actions disrupt the spirit of sportsmanship.

“A football stadium is a place for sports, not for protesting government responsibility and obligations. Turning the stadium into a protest ground undermines both the sport and the real fight for justice,” he stated.

He further argued that if the goal was to demand justice, demonstrations should take place in the streets, where authorities could directly address the grievances.

The protest was reportedly organized to demand justice for those affected by the Magwi County violence. In response to the disruption, the South Sudan Premier League Organizing Committee has scheduled a meeting on Monday to review the events and assess potential measures moving forward.

Sad News: A boyfriend kills his pregnant girlfriend over suspected love triangle in Kenya.

A 20-year-old expectant student at Mawego National Polytechnic in, Homa Bay County was stabbed to death on Saturday over a suspected love triangle.

Sheryl Awino, who was a first-year student at pursuing a land surveyor course was allegedly killed by her boyfriend who is also a student at the same learning institution.

Sheryl also lost her unborn child after the suspect stabbed her in the abdomen using a kitchen knife.

His father John Odongo was called by her daughter's roommate on Saturday morning that the student had been admitted at Kendu Adventist Hospital in Rachuonyo North however later she succumbed to injuries she sustained during the incident.

Odongo says during their enquiries, they established that the student was at her hostel until Friday evening when her boyfriend visited her.

The two are said to have spent the entire night together and no one suspected that something wrong could have happened but some commotion was heard in a room where they were on Saturday 5 am.

The student was rushed to hospital with a wound on her abdomen where she succumbed and at the hospital, medical officers discovered that the deceased was expectant.

The family said justice should be accorded to their daughter by arresting the suspect.

Rachuonyo North Police Commander Lydia Parteyie says investigators have begun tracing the suspect who is still at large.

Elsewhere in Ongogo Tir village, a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by a student of Asumbi Teachers Training College (TTC) during a physical fight over a form four female student.

Boas Owino died when he was being rushed to Homa bay Referral Hospital after the suspects stabbed him after they differed on who should have the student.

The area acting assistant chief Tobias On’gwena confirmed that the suspect was immediately arrested and taken to Mbita police station.

Breaking News: SDA Church elder hides knife in Bible, stabs man over love affair in Kenya.

A 35-year-old Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) elder was on Saturday stabbed to death by a fellow elder during a church service at Ramoya village, Samba Sub location in Suba South constituency in Homa Bay County over a suspected love triangle.

Francis Opiyo, a church elder of Ebeneza SDA church, was stabbed with a knife at the altar before the congregation.

It was reported that Francis was stabbed by his fellow elder a few minutes after delivering church reports to the worshipers before the main sermon that was to be presided over by the church pastor.

According to Suba South Sub County Police commander Caxton Ndunda, elder Francis concluded his session well and handed over to a fellow elder to take over before the pastor’s session which would come later.

However, when Francis was handing over, the suspect, who is a fellow elder in the same church, walked to the altar, removed a knife which he had hidden in the Bible and stabbed Francis’ left side of the chest, where he collapsed on the spot.

Ndunda says the assailant accused Francis of being in a sexual relationship with his wife who is also a church member.

Upon committing the act, the assailant ran away and surrendered to the area Assistant Chief as the elder was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment

Ndunda confirmed that they have already apprehended the suspect who is being detained at the Magunga police station

The Police boss urged residents to seek the right modalities of solving social problems instead of resorting to murder.

The body was moved to St Camillus Hospital Mortuary in Sori Town, Migori County.

JUST IN: Artist urges Azande Kingdom to redirect anniversary money to starving communities.

A local musician Yambio, Western Equatoria State, has called on the Azande Kingdom to divert funds allocated for its upcoming third-anniversary celebrations to support people facing starvation in Greater Tambura.

Emmanuel Manut Mawien, a.k.a Ram Dizzy, criticized the kingdom for prioritizing annual festivities while many Azande children suffer from hunger and displacement due to ongoing conflict in the State.

He condemned the decision to allocate resources such as a pledge by one of the well-wishers, donating 20 bags of cement and two million South Sudanese pounds for the event, arguing that these could have been used to help displaced families in Tombura and Nagero.

Ram Dizzy also urged the Azande community to unite with the state government to bring lasting peace. He accused community leaders, businesspeople, NGOs, and government officials of continuously supporting the king with financial and material donations while ignoring the dire humanitarian situation in conflict-affected areas.

The third-anniversary celebration of the Azande Kingdom’s restoration is set for February 9, 2025 However, the state has been grappling with violent clashes, alleged to be between the Azande and Balanda communities, which have escalated to Ezo and Nagero.
