Twic court approves 100 divorces in 2024

The Bench Court in Twic County, Warrap State, granted 100 family divorce in 2024, with 70 cases initiated by women and 30 by men.

Deputy Chief Mayuot Yai Maror attributed the rise in divorces to economic hardship, which led to increased cheating in marriages and greater misunderstandings among couples.

Yai said that apart from the 100 cases, they have received more, but many divorces were rejected, and the couples were advised to settle their issues at the family level.

“We have been recording several reports of divorces among young married men and women and are finding the best ways to help them solve their differences, so they can maintain the key responsibility of keeping the family united. We encourage peaceful methods of resolving issues within the family before resorting to the court,” Yai stated.

The chief expressed concern over the high number of divorces and the cases where divorce requests were denied, calling on the state government to take action by boosting the economy to reduce divorce rates in 2025.

“I wish the local government in the state would find other ways to regulate families and avoid many divorces in the upcoming year, 2025,” he said.

Yai stated that many divorces result from early and forced marriages, which often turn bitter for young people, and he strongly discourages such marriages.

He advocates for girls' education, believing it can profoundly impact the community by creating better opportunities and improving long-term economic conditions.

By: Anonymous (undisclosed person)

A person who his name are not disclosed for security matter has made a quote about the removal of wunrok bridge as followed:

"I concur with the view of anonymous residents who expressed the concerns about insecurity this would create.

The Wunrock bridge is only one crossing point to North of Warrap state and Unity state. Anything one decided to take with him or her would go if there is a free movement until illegal fi****ms would cross there in the daytime.

Marialdit would not have rushed to decide on that without prior consultation of the area's residents.

This decision would not be precedented in the area. If it last long, Marial would regret his decision. However, the residents are encouraged to say, do and accept what would best suits their lives.

No government would be in place without people, however, people would be there in place without a government. This view date back to 11 centuries ago when Marial Abur didn't know about SPLM party or South Sudan.

Justin: Governor Marial Abur Orders Removal of Wunrok Bridge Checkpoint

Francis Marial Abur, the governor of Warrap State, has officially ordered the removal of the checkpoint at Wunrok Bridge, along with the Waralal checkpoint in Kuajok. The decision aligns with resolutions from the 8th Governors' Forum, which called for the dismantling of all illegal checkpoints across South Sudan.

Organized forces stationed at these checkpoints have been directed to return to their respective units.

However, residents of Twic County have expressed concerns about the removal of the Wunrok Bridge checkpoint, citing potential security risks. They fear that the move could create vulnerabilities in the fragile post-conflict situation between Twic and Abyei.

An anonymous resident highlighted the checkpoint's past role in intercepting war materials heading toward Abyei before the establishment of a ceasefire. They voiced uncertainty about the implications of the checkpoint's closure on regional security.

Thursday, 2nd January, 2025.

The Governor of Warrap State H.E Gen. Francis Marial Abur, and his accompanying delegation arrived in Turalei, the headquarters of Twic County ahead of peace and security rally scheduled for tomorrow, 3rd January, 2025.

The meeting will focus on the security situation and the challenges that are facing the citizens of Twic County as the county is totally affected by flood due to the climate change across the country. The county was totally disconnected from the state headquarters for the good number of months due to the poor road connection, which has directly affected the local population in the area.

The governor was received by the county commissioner Hon. Adhar Akook, and community elders as well as intellectual and women groups of Twic County.

The richest man in China said: "If you put bananas and money in front of monkeys, the monkeys will choose the bananas because they don’t know that money can buy many bananas. In fact, if you offer WORK and BUSINESS to people, they will choose to WORK because most people don’t know that a BUSINESS can generate more MONEY than a salary. One of the reasons why the poor are poor is because they are not trained to recognize business opportunities. They spend a lot of time in school, and what they learn in school is to work for a salary instead of working for themselves. Profits are better than salaries because salaries can allow you to make a living, but profits can generate you a fortune."

Boda rider killed in accident involving musician Bilpam Akech

An accident this evening results in the death of a boda rider after a collision with musician Bilpam Akech’s vehicle. According to John K. One, chairman of the Lakes State Artist Union, Bilpam was leaving his studio and heading toward town this evening via Pope’s Road.

As he approaches the former Spy Chief’s house near the roundabout, a car suddenly cuts in from the left side, forcing Bilpam to swerve. In an attempt to avoid the vehicle, Bilpam loses control of his car, which then strikes a boda rider standing near the JEDCO electric pole.

Bilpam immediately reports the incident to the police sector, and he is currently in police custody. Investigations into the accident are set to begin tomorrow.
