U.S.-funded aid programs worldwide were laying off staff and stopping their work because the Trump administration froze almost all foreign aid.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio originally only allowed emergency food programs and military aid to Israel and Egypt to continue.
However, on Tuesday, he agreed to temporarily keep funding for humanitarian programs that provide life-saving medicine, medical help, food, and shelter.
This decision was made to help programs that support refugees and seriously ill people around the world. Despite this, many U.S.-funded programs were still laying off workers and shutting down.

President Donald Trump ordered a 90-day freeze last week to give his administration time to review which humanitarian, development, and security programs will continue to receive U.S. funding.

The reliability and safety of the aircraft used for air travel.
Reports have emerged suggesting that the government is considering hiring older planes from other countries, raising alarm among citizens and aviation experts alike.
The hiring of outdated aircraft poses a significant risk to the safety of passengers and crew. Statistics reveal that over 50 individuals have died or been injured each year due to plane crashes in the region.
This alarming trend highlights the urgent need for the government to prioritize the safety and well-being of its citizens by ensuring that only safe, modern aircraft are used for air travel.

It is imperative that the South Sudanese government takes immediate action to summon the civil aviation authority and reassess their strategies regarding aircraft procurement. Investing in safer, more reliable aviation options is not just a matter of regulatory compliance; it is a moral obligation to protect the lives of the people who rely on air travel for transportation.

By addressing these concerns, the government can help to prevent further tragedies and foster confidence in the aviation sector, ensuring a safer future for all citizens of South Sudan.
