Public Information on South Sudanâs Oil Production from Block 3&7 ONLY.
By: Ramidit
Dear Citizens of South Sudan,
Transparency is a cornerstone of good governance, and as the rightful owners of our nationâs resources, you deserve to know how our oil income is being generated and utilized.
Letâs break it down:
From Blocks 3 and 7, South Sudan is currently producing approximately 95,000 barrels per day (bpd). With the price of oil ranging between $75 and $85 per barrel, letâs take an average price of $76 per barrel.
Daily Revenue
$76/barrel Ă 95,000 bpd = $7,220,000 per day
Monthly Revenue
$7,220,000/day Ă 30 days = $216,660,000 per month
This means that the total monthly revenue from these two blocks alone is over $216 million.
However, this is not the final amount we receive as a country. A significant portion of this revenue is deducted to cover:
1. Pipeline Fees
2. Land Fees
3. Insurance Fees
4. BAPCO Fees
5. Chinese Shares
After accounting for these deductions estimated to be roughly 72% of the total revenue the remaining 28% is what South Sudan retains.
Final Share for South Sudan
28% of $216,660,000 = $60,664,800 per month
From this amount, 12% is taken by Nilepet (the national oil company). Unfortunately, this share often does not translate into significant benefits for the citizens.
Call for Accountability
Itâs essential for all stakeholders, including Nilepet and government entities, to ensure that the remaining oil revenue is transparently managed and directed towards critical sectors like education, healthcare, infrastructure, and development projects that directly impact the lives of South Sudanese citizens.
We encourage everyone to stay informed, demand transparency, and hold our leaders accountable to ensure the wealth from our resources benefits us all.
Together, we can build a brighter future for South Sudan.
