Inmates & Disabilities Organization (I DO) Advocacy Report

The Inmates & Disabilities Organization (I DO) has been silent regarding the deteriorating living conditions of vulnerable communities in Warrap State, including people with disabilities (PWDs), inmates, and street children, who are among the hardest hit by ongoing flooding. This inactivity comes at a time when urgent advocacy and action are needed to address the growing humanitarian crisis.

Current Situation

1. People with Disabilities (PWDs)

Confined indoors for months due to inaccessible flooded roads.

Facing severe hunger and lack of medical services.

Education disrupted, with many unable to continue schooling due to road closures.

2. Inmates

Overcrowded prisons in flooded areas are health hazards.

Limited access to food, clean water, and basic hygiene facilities.

Increased exposure to waterborne diseases like cholera and malaria.

3. Street Children

Homeless and exposed to harsh conditions without protection or basic necessities.

Facing malnutrition, health risks, and heightened vulnerability to exploitation.

The Role of I DO

As a key organization dedicated to advocating for PWDs and inmates, I DO's engagement is critical during this crisis. However, its silence and inaction have left the most vulnerable without an essential voice in advocating for their rights and well-being.

Recommended Actions for I DO

1. Advocacy and Awareness

Use its platform to highlight the plight of PWDs, inmates, and street children in Warrap State.

Engage with media, stakeholders, and humanitarian organizations to mobilize support.

2. Collaboration with Relief Efforts

Partner with government and non-governmental organizations to deliver food, medical care, and essential services to vulnerable communities.

Facilitate the distribution of assistive devices and hygiene kits to PWDs and inmates.

3. Policy Engagement

Advocate for inclusive disaster response policies that prioritize the needs of PWDs and inmates.

Push for long-term solutions such as accessible infrastructure and improved prison conditions.

4. On-the-Ground Support

Establish mobile aid units to deliver assistance directly to isolated communities, prisons, and shelters.

Create temporary safe spaces for street children and PWDs to provide shelter and basic services.

Conclusion

The ongoing crisis in Warrap State demands immediate action from all stakeholders, including Inmates & Disabilities Organization (I DO). By stepping up and addressing the urgent needs of vulnerable communities, I DO can fulfill its mission and make a meaningful impact during this critical time. Silence and inaction are no longer options.
