PRESIDENT KIIR LEAVES JUBA FOR AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO SOUTH AFRICA

Date: 27th/June/2023

(Juba) - President Kiir has left Juba this morning on a working visit to South Africa, where he will meet his counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The meeting slated for Wednesday will centre on strengthening bilateral relations between Juba and Pretoria.

Speaking to journalists at Juba International Airport prior to President's departure, the Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the leaders will also delve into the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

Dr. Marial added that President Kiir and his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa will discuss the crisis in Sudan and regional issues.

The Minister said President Kiir and Ramaphosa will also discuss areas of mutual cooperation between SPLM and South African ruling ANC party.

During his stay, President Kiir will also meet with other key South African officials and business leaders to promote trade and investment between the two nations.

South Sudan looks forward to bolstering its long-standing relationship with South Africa and enhance collaborations towards achieving sustainable peace and development.

The teenage girl Akuot Agany whose eyes were gouged by her father in April has returned from Germany after undergoing going a specialised eye treatment. Following the treatment, she was able to regain her eyesight in one eye, but unfortunately lost vision in the second eye.
