Definition of good governance: Good governance aims to reduce corruption, to consider the opinions of minorities, to listen to the voices of the oppressed in decision-making, and to actively respond to the needs of society now and in the future.
Eight (8) principles of good governance are based on:-
1. Participation:
Participating in the concept of good governance here is an opportunity for everyone to express their opinion on institutions or representatives. In addition, everyone, without exception, has the right to freedom of association and opinion.
2. Rule of law:
In order to implement a good government, the country's legal system, especially the human rights law, must be enforced impartially.
3. Transparency (Transparency:
Transparency) means that every policy that the government adopts and implements must be implemented in accordance with existing regulations. In addition, there must be a guarantee that any information related to the policy is accessible to anyone, especially those to whom the policy directly applies.
4. Dealing with:
Good governance requires institutions and processes to try to serve all stakeholders within a reasonable period of time.
5. The fifth principle is
related to the decision-making process. When the decision-making process cannot satisfy everyone's wishes, then at the very least, the decision should be a decision that everyone can accept and that does not harm anyone.
6. Equality and inclusiveness:
Good governance ensures social justice. Everyone has the same opportunity to protect and improve their health.
7. Efficiency and effectiveness:
Any decision-making system and its institutions must be able to produce decisions that meet every social need. Community resources should also be well utilized by the government.
8. Accountability
All institutions that work in good governance have full responsibility to the public, to improve the quality of society.
So, while we have all been introduced to the general understanding of good governance and its principles, let's talk about how it can be used at the local level and how the role of local governments is specific to the development of a city.
