What is the reason behind the siege of Al-Shabaab in Baidoa?
The Al-Shabaab group from the Hawiye community and the government of Hassan Sheikh are said to be working together to destroy the South West administration.
The siege of Baidoa is based on the war that took place in the city of Barawe in which the Hawiye militias were defeated last month after they attacked the South West presidency in the city of Barawe.
The international community should stop funding the current government of Somalia in the form of weapons and money, because it is using it to put pressure on the people of the South West, to eliminate the South West, and to put pressure on the politicians of the South West who are against the leadership of Hassan. Sheikh Mahmoud
Turkey, Qatar, United Arab Emirates. The United States and Europe must reform the way they give money to the government of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. This government has declared war against Al-Shabaab without using a strategy. see
The people of South West Somalia who have suffered drought and insecurity, and non-existent social infrastructure
Businessmen in the South West do not have the ability to do business or travel on the road that connects Baidoa and Mogadishu, as all the roads are blocked by militiamen dressed in the uniform of the Somali government and these forces are paid by the government of Somalia, and they are causing problems to the people of the South West.
The ration situation in Baidoa district is getting worse as one kilo of sugar is being traded for 3 dollars.
The roads connecting Baidoa and Mogadishu, Barawe and Mogadishu are closed to Al-Shabaab and militias in military uniforms and they all belong to Hawiye clans.
There is no peace and security in the entire South West region and it is important to discuss these issues with the international community that works closely with the Somali people.
There are hundreds of tribal militias in the regions of Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle, dressed in the uniform of the Somali military, and their salaries are paid by the Somali government.
These militias have no bases in Puntland, Jubaland, Hirshabeele and Galmudug
We are calling for Somalia not to be deprived of arms embargo because every weapon given to this weak government will be handed over to Al-Shabaab.
Finally, we call on the international community to provide direct financial support, military training, economic and political support to the South West.
