UNLAWFULL ATTACK ON GENERAL SHEGOW AHMED ALI IN MOGADISHU

Baraawe Human Rights Commission condemns at strongest term the unlawful attack on General Shegow
Ahmed Ali who is member of the Somali National Army, from the minority clans (Jareer Wayne).

The attack comes at a time when he recently said that he stands by the people of his origin who are oppressed, marginalised, discriminated on the bases of their race, ethnicity, and nationality.

Baraawe Human Rights Commission condemns the statement made by the Somalia Police spokesperson Sadiq Adan Dodishe for calling the general and his staffs bandits that robe mobiles in Mogadishu. It is not professional way to treat a member of SNA General such a way which is a violation of
the liberty of the security of the person.

The forces of the Federal Government of Somalia have attacked the Generals house located in Madina district area and these solders have used several heavy weapons, residents said the fight came after an attack by the police on the residence of General Shegow Ahmed, Various losses and injuries was reported.

The Somali Government forces have captured General Shegow Ahmed Ali and his bodyguards. Armed soldiers seen on social medias. humiliating, torturing, yelling to the general on the street of Mogadishu.

Baraawe Human Rights Commission calls for the release of General Shegow Ahmed Ali immediately without any condition.

The Somali Government violated its provisional constitution (Human Dignity) article 10, Article 11 Equality, Article 15 Liberty, and security of person and how the arrest was conducted was Unlawful and
inconsistent with constitution, the Somali Government must take that responsibility.

Baraawe Human Rights Commission call for United Nation Security Council not to remove arm Embargo in Somalia due to of the risks of further destabilization in the country and the unrestricted access to weapons and ammunition for armed militias and militant fighters to use against other Somali clans to oppress, marginalised to deny their rights as Somali Nationals.

The ration situation in Baidoa district is getting worse as one kilo of sugar is being traded for 3 dollars.

The roads connecting Baidoa and Mogadishu, Barawe and Mogadishu are closed to Al-Shabaab and militias in military uniforms and they all belong to Hawiye clans.

There is no peace and security in the entire South West region and it is important to discuss these issues with the international community that works closely with the Somali people.

There are hundreds of tribal militias in the regions of Bay, Bakool and Lower Shabelle, dressed in the uniform of the Somali military, and their salaries are paid by the Somali government.

These militias have no bases in Puntland, Jubaland, Hirshabeele and Galmudug

We are calling for Somalia not to be deprived of arms embargo because every weapon given to this weak government will be handed over to Al-Shabaab.

Finally, we call on the international community to provide direct financial support, military training, economic and political support to the South West.

The director of Somalia's presidency, Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, issued a brief statement on the siege by Al-Shabaab in Baydhaba city in the Bay region. Director Hussein said that he shares the pain with the people of Baydhaba who are facing severe isolation from the Al-Shabaab group.
