De son vrai nom Tyla Laura Seethal, née le 30 janvier 2002 à Johannesburg et amoureuse des chants depuis toute petite (déjà à 12 ans), c’est en 2019 que Tyla fait connaître ‘‘Getting Late’’. Sa première sortie officielle (une collaboration avec Kooldrink), qui révéla son talent, même à l’international.

Conséquence : elle se fait repérer par un grand label et enchaîne les hits ‘‘Overdue’’, ‘‘To Last’’, ‘‘Been Thinking’’, et même un feat avec Ayra Starr. Cependant, c’est avec ‘‘Water’’, révélé en juillet 2023, qu’elle se retrouve sur les grandes scènes.

Remixé en plus avec la star américaine Travis Scott, ce hit a récemment fait de Tyla la gagnante du Grammy de la meilleure performance musicale africaine, cumulant déjà plus de 400 millions de streams sur Spotify.
