Following the sudden rise in the people's interest amid the introduction of the new media, fabricated and false reporting has been a very serious issue to contend with. News and information published today lacks required facts needed for a news to be balanced and credible.
However, in a bid to end this syndrome, the Center For Journalism Innovation And Development has just concluded training for media practitioners in the Mass Communication Department at the University of Makeni.
The training is centered on how to detect fake information on social media.
This according to the trainers is to ensure that we uphold laws and mandates that governs the media landscape in Sierra Leone, since the media is important and instrumental to the peace and stability and the development of every nation.
