Accessibility in public places for persons with disabilities remains a significant challenge in Sierra Leone. Despite the Disability Act of 2011, which mandates that all public buildings be accessible to persons with disabilities (PWDs), the reality is that 13 years later, there are still serious issues with accessibility.
Many of our schools, universities, courthouses, police stations, and major government and private offices remain inaccessible to PWDs. While some schools and public buildings have begun to take steps towards improving accessibility, much more needs to be done.
It is crucial that we prioritize and accelerate efforts to make all public spaces inclusive and accessible for everyone, ensuring that PWDs can fully participate in society without barriers.

The National Commission for Persons with disabilities needs to be empowered like any other commission in this country. I am calling on the government of Sierra Leone to take action.
The commission has only a staff at its regional offices.
The regional offices are not capacitated,
There is no functional laptop, no printer, no stable electric power, no district nor regional program for Persons with disabilities.
The new minister of Social welfare should look into that and take action
Get us a functional and developmentally oriented chairman of that commission. Please don't do it on sentiment.
Make Consultations with SLUDI,Organization of persons with disabilities, NCPD and PWDs themselves to get us a functional and developmentally oriented chairman.
That commission should not just sit by and wait for government subventions, PWDs are suffering let us take actions to help salvage this ugly situation.
