CHIEF MINISTER DR DAVID MOININA SENGEH URGES CITIZENS TO JOIN SIERRA LEONE PEOPLE'S PARTY

BY UNCLE SANKARA MEDIA PLATFORM #+23277763898
15th January 2025

The Chief Minister of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has urged citizens to join the great Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in his 46th audio of January 14th 2025.

Dr. David Sengeh purposefully made the audio to provide justification as to why people should register and join the SLPP, a party which he says exemplifies its motto: One country: One People, which stands as a symbol of national unity and inclusion.
He rationalizes his statements based on evidence and the values the SLPP represents as Social Democrats that cater for the needs of all and sundry.

The Chief Minister said the SLPP was founded on the values of inclusion and movement, which prompted the fusion of two institutions to form the party. Namely: PEPU (Protectorate Education Progressive Union) and SOS (Sierra Leone Organizational Society).

For PEPU, he lauds the union of progressives that galvanize support to provide education to protectorate people, breaking a barrier that was an exclusive reserve for creoles or people residing in the Freetown Colony.

With regards the SOS, the Chief Minister was in awe of the multiplicity of socio-ethnic backgrounds from which the organization draws its membership.

He mentions Kandeh Bureh, a Temne Tribal head, Siaka Stevens a Limba who later left SLPP and joined the People's National Party (PNP) and later founded the All people's Congress (APC), Paramount Chief Julius Gulama from Moyamba, John Karefa Smart who is a mentor to Dr. Sengeh, Creoles such as Dwell Sumner, Frank Anthony, I. Manley, William Fitzgemont and T.M Williams, Alfred Demby from Bo, the Margais from Moyamba, Paramount Chief Alimamy Sorie Conteh from Tonkolili and other traditional rulers across the country.

The aim of the SOS was to ensure citizens participation in national development, promoting human capital development, fostering cooperation among institutions, supporting civil society organizations and implementing civic and social projects.

Given the diverse membership of Ethnic groups that constitute the SOS, the Chief Minister emphasizes on the fact that there is nothing like tribalism in the SLPP, because all the members at that time want to see the progress and development of Sierra Leone, which is the basic commonality among them.

Dr. David Sengeh underscored the fact that the SLPP is a party of progressives that believe in inclusion and education for everyone because after the reign of Sir Milton Margai, it was President Kabbah that prioritizes education by making it free for the girl child at the basic secondary level.

“Thereafter, it is President Julius Maada Bio that has launched the free and quality education for all the pupils in the country and for female students pursuing STEM courses at tertiary level,” he stated.

According to the Chief Minister, if one believes in inclusion, social democracy, ethnic diversity, civics and organization, democracy, economics that works for all, then one must join the SLPP.

Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh concluded by advising citizens to join the SLPP without delay by way of securing their party membership cards and standing for something.

DR DAVID MOININA SENGEH INTERPRETES ROLE AS CHIEF MINISTER OF SIERRA LEONE

BY UNCLE SANKARA MEDIA PLATFORM #+23277763898
8th January 2025

Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has interpreted his role as the current Chief Minister of the Republic of Sierra Leone in his 45th audio of January 7th 2025.
Dr. David Sengeh has clarified his role as the Chief Minister on several occasions, but perhaps due to misunderstanding, disbelief or lack of accepting the reality by some people, he was impelled to revisiting the topic.

He recounted previous holders of the position with Sir Milton Margai being the first, followed by Professor David Francis, then Mr. Jacob Jusu Saffa and himself as the 4th and current holder of the position.

Dr. David Sengeh yields to the fact of being the Youngest Chief Minister in the history of Sierra Leone; however, he went on to indicating that the role of the Chief Minister in the Bio led government is quite dissimilar to that of a Chief Minister in the 1960’s.

“Because government has multiple layers, my role as the Chief Minister is to coordinate across Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
At the operational decision leadership level, a single individual does not possess the knowledge over everything prompting the need for effective coordination,” he explains.

According to the Chief Minister, his coordinative role further gives him the latitude to summon meetings by way of averting lacunas and to eliminating the existence of territories in Governance.

He said another function of the Chief Minister is to supervise implementation delivery emanating from President Julius Maada Bio’s vision as the CEO, Vice president Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh as the Deputy CEO and himself the Chief Minister as the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

President Bio has emphasized on the duties of the Chief Minister as the COO on several occasions, because Dr. David Sengeh is the focal point that ensures the smooth running of government operations.

Overall, there are several Directorates and Departments, but went on to underscoring the fact that as a government they are implementing a single manifesto and national development plan, and prominent among his role as the COO is to help the Bio led government deliver on its development agenda.

He mentioned some detractors who are intentionally confusing the Chief Minister as distinct from the office of the Chief Minister that authored and put out a press release on the reduction of the price of the staple food rice.

Dr. David Sengeh bemoans the action of such people as sad because they choose to pick on a triviality, instead of focusing on the collective efforts that led to the reduction of a bag of rice of which every Sierra Leonean is happy about.

“This reduction of the price of a bag of rice is unprecedented in the history of Sierra Leone. The decision was unanimous because the government was able to meet with the main importers and agree on the maths for the reduction to materialize,” he stated.

The Chief Minister acknowledges the fact that the vision originated from President Bio but went on to commend the Ministry of Trade and Industry for providing technical support and for doing their homework overtime.

He also talked about the role of the Ministry of Finance for providing the financial incentives, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for promoting and protecting the “Feed Salone Initiative” and the involvement of the National Revenue Authority to preventing the demise of the private sector.

Contrary to the opinions of some people, the Chief Minister cannot single handedly take the glory for such a great feat but as a young man who is abreast of his responsibilities, he was able to coordinate, engage and bargain with the suppliers of rice.

Why should people be surprised because the Office of the Chief Minister is simply doing its work? Dr. David Sengeh rhetorically asked.

“The Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and other government functionaries have also been engaging the suppliers of rice to effect the reduction of the price,” he reveals.

Even though he tweets and hold his opinions as does his office, Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh assures that he will never usurp the role of anyone in the government because the Ministry of Information is the official mouthpiece of government across the board.

The Chief Minister stressed on the importance of knowing the functions of his office which is to bring the government to the people and the people close to the government.

“I am doing the work of the people as I am told by President Julius Maada Bio,” he concludes.

Dr.David Sengeh had the opportunity on Saturday 4th January 2025 to visit up to nine bike riding parks in Freetown, together with the National Executive of the Bike Riders Union.

As a man of the people, he didn't only engage the riders, but rode with them across the streets of the capital and later had frank discussion with them, not limited to their contributions to society, as well as possible challenges they are faced with.

The Chief Minister also presented ten scholarships to the Union, for its members to capacitate themselves and upgrade their skills in order to match up with the modern trend.

During their riding process, the Chief Minister maintained that, the bike riders obeyed every single traffic rule they came across, noting that if bike riders are honouring the traffic light rules among other trafficking regulations, same could be done by ordinary citizens.

Secondly, Dr. David Sengeh mentioned that based on their conversations, he was made to figure out the cordial relationship between them and the Sierra Leone Police, the latter are responsible for implementing most of the traffic rules and regulations. "This was said by the bike riders themselves and I was amazed by that. It was also wonderful to hear biker riders talking about community policing, as well as the Criminal Procedure Act," he stated.

In that regard, he thanked the Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu and his team, to have changed the narrative between them and the bike riders, as well as acknowledging the work of President Bio for setting the pace in all of this.

Delving further in his audio, the Chief Minister also established the significant economic contribution of bike riders, whom he said are among the largest employers in the country with a population of about 2.1 million. He linked such to the expansion of the economy between the riders and that of the market women, wherein bike riders when they buy fuel, which government use to get tax from and the money government use to undertake various types of development.

The riders he added are not only creating employment for themselves but also adding value to the economy."The base of the economy in the informal sector, the biggest employer in the informal sector are the bike riders with over 2.1m," such he said is a big boost to Sierra Leone's economic growth.

Dr.David Sengeh also pointed out how key the bike riders are in the area of maintaining peace and national security. The slogan and motto of the union, he said symbolized peace and national cohesion as well as discipline among their general membership."If there is no peace, there will be a standstill with no national and personal growths. As a result of such, it's our responsibility including the bike riders , myself as the third bike rider, the First Lady, as the second bike rider, and President Bio, as the first rider , we're more than willing to uphold the peace and unity of this country," he averred.

In relation to the government's Big Five Agenda, the Chief Minister undercored that bike riders are deeply into the process, supporting every pillar.

Dr.David Sengeh said in the area of Feed Salone, they're supporting farmers and female traders in the area of transporting their goods or produce from the farms to the markets, or from the market places to their homes.

Meanwhile,in the area of human capital development, bike riders are also contributing to the growth and development of school going children, with ethe payment of fees for kids who are in the private schools, or other financial supports to see these children actualised their dreams.

Employment has been the biggest strength of bike riding, as over 2.1 million people have directly gained employment through bike riding, which he said is a plus to the nation.

The Chief Minister was bold enough to come out and voiced out the many things he learned out of his engagement with the bike riders."I learned a lot when i visited their various parks."

However, amidst the tremendous contributions of bike riders, they also explained their challenges to the Chief Minister, which he had channelled to the appropriate ministries.

Among the issues he said government is working on is to set up an insurance scheme, that will enables riders have both insurance and welfare opportunities.

Bike riders he also said want traffic lights to be visibled at other strategic places, as well as having reasonable discount when purchasing motorbike, all of which he said have been putted forward to the appropriate authorities.

As government he said they listen and understand the bike riders' plights, and they're doing all they could to improve the gray areas. He also mentioned that they have been working with the Union for years now, going all over Sierra Leone, preaching RADICAL INCLUSION. He said they are committed to support bike riders in changing the narrative for good in Sierra Leone.

In his conclusion, Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh averred that bike riders are not left out when it comes to policy development , as it is the believe of President Bio, for every Sierra Leonean to play a pivotal role in the transformation of Sierra Leone to Paradise. "Therefore, we must thank President Julius Maada Bio for his visionary leadership, as together we will deliver," he ended.

Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh comes across as a seasoned and internationally acclaimed writer, therefore, he admits of not entertaining quack or misleading information but appealed to journalists to display an uncompromising sense of professionalism in their profession.

DR DAVID MOININA SENGEH NAVIGATES THE INTRICACIES OF TAKING LEADERSHIP DECISIONS

BY UNCLE SANKARA MEDIA PLATFORM #+23277763898
20th December 2024

The Chief Minister of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has navigated the intricacies of taking leadership decisions in his 43rd audio of 19th December 2024.

Dr. David Sengeh categorically stated that if a leader wants to be liked in everything he does, that leader will never be effective.

“People normally say that if an individual wants to be loved by everyone then, he must sell ice cream because even the children will like you, but whenever the ice-cream finishes the children will stone the ice cream cart,” he explains.

Therefore, he underscored the fact that whenever leaders make decisions, consideration must be taken on what is good for the people today and tomorrow.

Even when one is been criticized and the people is ignorant of the benefits of certain decisions, Dr. David Sengeh said the divine guidance of leadership aids leaders with the understanding to look at different aspects to an issue before taking the final decision.
“These are examples that I have learnt from my own boss who is President Bio,” he admits.

The Chief Minister mentioned the distraction from the Kenema Boys who sing that the system is not working for them, but revealed further that in Jembeh a town sandwiched between Bo and Kenema, land owning families were recompensed for providing land for the construction of a 300 bed hospital which is touted as a long-term investment that will benefit the people in that community.

Dr. David Sengeh also talked about the cash grants that were doled out to about 300 youths, and the opening of a school for mid-wives in Kenema by President Julius Maada Bio, both of which are associated with development, training, investment, job opportunities and economic activities.

Dr. David Sengeh emphasized on the fact that had President Bio listened to the critical voices in Kenema such type of development would never be brought to that part of the country.

He confessed of adoring the leadership style of President Bio, which he emulated during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic by giving the green light for the reopening of schools; a move which was initially criticized but was celebrated later because a single pupil never contracted the disease due to the accompanying innovations that were implemented.

“Most of the pupils that took their WASSCE examination during the Covid-19 period are currently graduating from different tertiary institutions,” he pointed out.

Dr. David Sengeh cited another example when as Basic Education Minister Pupils who were pregnant were allowed to take public examinations and many of whom are now graduating from different universities whiles their children are attending Kindergarten schools.

“The fear that people harbored by way of seeing many pregnant girls in schools did not materialize, this is because of good leadership that took conscious decisions” he noted.

He indicated that his role as Chief Minister did not stipulate for all the people to like him all the time but he is doing his work because the people have entrusted President Bio with the overarching power to making decisions.
In that regard, he said President Bio appoints the Chief Minister alongside other Ministers to take delegated decisions that are in the best interest of the country.

For those that parrot misinformation about the welfare and reproductive rights of women, he sets the records by revealing the enormous investment the Bio led government has made on women through the prevention of maternal mortality and early marriage, the drastic reduction of r**e, etc.

“Government is keen in ensuring that women that are r**ed receive Justice and the termination of r**e pregnancies with potential diseases and fatal complications and those acquired through incest,” he discloses.

According to Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh the government is taking such decisions because they believe that they are good for the people and appealed further to people to have trust, stand by and engage with the government for them to deliver.

CHIEF MINISTER DR DAVID MOININA SENGEH DECONSTRUCTS PREVALENT MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN SIERRA LEONE

BY UNCLE SANKARA MEDIA PLATFORM #+23277763898
13th December 2024

The Chief Minister of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has deconstructed the prevalent misunderstanding about foreign direct investment in Sierra Leone in his 42nd audio of 12th December 2024.

By way of setting the records straight, the Chief Minister was keen on clarifying the notion of huge financial resources being promised by development partners, its impact on the recipient country and the scepter of misunderstanding prowling the minds of citizens.

Dr. David Sengeh ardently sheds light on his recent visit to the United States, where he held a meeting with the U.S government Development Finance Corporation (DFC), an institution that funds governments through a private sector led initiative aimed at promoting socio-economic growth in developing countries.

In the case of Sierra Leone, he reveals that the DFC and the Millennium Challenge Cooperation (MCC) has provided $1 billion to the private sector to invest in projects that would benefit Sierra Leoneans; however, he stated that the money would not necessarily be remitted into the coffers of government.

Dr. David Sengeh dispelled misconceptions that such resources are normally misappropriated by politicians depriving the people of social benefits.

He stated that the implementation of the $1Billion funded project by the DFC and MCC would span a five year period or the entire lifetime of the project until completion.

The Chief Minister specifically gave three examples: one of which is the Nant Energy project in which the DFC doles out $413million to provide 108 megawatts of electricity, surpassing the Bumbuna Hydro Energy project which only provides 50 megawatts of electricity.

According to Dr. Sengeh, the 108 megawatts of electricity will be delivered to the people in the form of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) after completion of the project within three years.

“This project will bring a lot of resources into the country and it will further provide jobs for the people living in the eastern part of Freetown,” he explains.

He cited the new airport in Lungi as another project funded by the DFC that has attracted more flights and visitors to Sierra Leone.

Attracted by President Bio’s prudent management of the economy, Dr. Sengeh confirms that the DFC would fund another project that would build a massive hotel at Lungi.

The Chief Minister indicated that the $450million from the MCC would be used to construct transmission lines across the country that would also span a period of five years which is geared towards solving Sierra Leone electricity crisis.

Dr. Sengeh said the country would not have benefitted from the $1 billion if President Bio were sited at home; but rather, it is because he positioned the country as investment friendly, coupled with his robust engagements in international forums.

So far, Chief Minister Dr. David Mionina Sengeh admits that Sierra Leone has received the highest number of foreign direct investment in relation to population per capita, which has translated into investment in infrastructure and will be utilized to augment President Bio’s big five development agenda.
