If only we could be responsible and appreciative I am sure Sierra Leone would be recognized for great things. Some weeks ago, one of our Sierra Leonean top entrepreneurs Zulumandigo won an award in Nigeria, and few people celebrated him. Just a week after, the Mumini Fashion Empire won another award in Nigeria together with Almon Sall and they were all there proudly representing our colors green, white, and blue. Not too far, two top stars in our country Amb. Amara Denis Turay (Kao) and Innocent Kuti won another international award and also shared the stage with top-notch African stars.

The media was not lit up with congratulations or appreciation posts to boost the efforts of these Sierra Leoneans who traveled out of this country to represent us among other African countries and bring home glory.

I could vividly remember the negative energy thrown on our Sierra Leonean brothers and sisters who are using their finances, knowledge, network, and many other things to make sure we are recognized, represented, and set the stage among other things.

I am applauding, appreciating, and congratulating these gentlemen and every other Sierra Leonean who is doing his/her best to create a beautiful picture of our country.

OTHER YOUTH SHOULD LEARN FROM HIM

Some days back, while sitting in front of my house entrance to get a view of the community happenings. A young man walked up to me marketing his skills to gain survival and I was wondering if there were youths of such nature, especially in this kush crisis.

I sat down and looked at him to see and get the reality of his message because I was not convinced at first site. "Bra ar say ar dae barb for ten leones any kind style wae u want ar sabi do am" in his voice. I smile and ask him the cost of barbing. He responded by saying ten leones(NLE) and stood up to get two of my neighbor's children to see the reality of his words. Surprisingly, he removed his Android phone and asked me to choose a style of haircut so he could perform and call on the boy's parents and choose.

I sat down patiently to see his handwork and trust me I was overwhelmed to see the beautiful and decent cut he gave to the boys. I was thinking to myself why did he choose to walk around searching for people instead of getting a place to be doing the work? Above all, he even has an Android phone, which other boys will just prefer to sell for five packs of Kush.

I paid him and asked him to visit me and permit me to share this video online. He was so happy and said, "Bra if u able to make sef people dem support me ar go gladi." I said to him, that I would do my best to inquire of support from people and make sure whatever support is given, is properly taken care of and for the right purpose.

Please followers, whatever way you think, you can support this young man, do it, and help one meaningful youth in Sierra Leone. Imagine if all youth in this country were willing to learn skills, be truthful to themselves, and be ready to get genuine money like this young man, trust me our society would not be the same.

ARISE IIP Port and Rail Agreement terminated agreements with the Sierra Leone government.

Sierra Leone Government Cancels ARISE IIP Port and Rail Agreement

The Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) has announced the ‘mutual’ cancellation of the Port and Rail Agreement with ARISE IIP.

The decision was made due to the failure to meet the condition precedents and ARISE’s refusal to waive their rights to those precedents. Consequently, the Arise agreement was terminated effective July 9, 2023, as indicated by the Attorney General.

The Ministry of Transport also revealed plans to establish a regulatory agency for rail and port operations.

The Cabinet officially terminated the ARISE Lease Agreement on October 25, 2023, and approved a new proposed Lease Agreement negotiated between the GoSL and Kingho Railway and Port Company.

Pictures and Videos of October 21st, 2023, the historic Grand Launching and Paramount Chief, Tribal Officers, and Council of Elders Inauguration of the Mende Descendants Development Association (MDDA) Texas Chiefdom held @ the prestigious Alexis Hotel in Dallas. The banquet hall was jam-packed with festive celebrations including the display of our cultures from our traditional Gboi & Sowei.
A few years ago, the Mende People of the USA unanimously agreed to come together as one to uplift and celebrate their culture and traditions, to pass on to their children, and to prevent their culture and tradition from fading away. The Dallas and the Ohio chapters have been established and officiated, and working toward other chapters to be officiated.
The purpose of this program is to keep cultural traditions alive and bring people together to develop their home country, Sierra Leone. This event was celebrated with other chapters promoting the same ideals, such as the Ohio and Houston chapters, with more to join in the future. The executive structure of our Mende Organizations in the diaspora is similar to that of the Executive structure in our Mende Lands where we have our Paramount Chief, Chiefdom Speaker, and tribal heads. We also have specific executive positions that follow the same format as our tradition.
