Did you know there are NHL players who don’t just believe in God — they build their entire life and career around Jesus Christ?
Yeah. In a league full of money, fame, ego, and fighting, there are guys whose whole identity is in Christ, not their stats.
You see them on the ice — the hits, the goals, the chaos — and you’d never guess what’s behind it. But once you dig, you realise how deep it runs.
They pray before games, after games, in the locker room, in interviews. They talk about Jesus like He’s their teammate, not some distant idea.
Jaromír Jágr has always worn his faith on his sleeve, even when the world mocked it.
Marián Hossa said more than once that peace and humility came from Jesus, not from his Stanley Cup rings.
Jakob Chychrun openly thanked Christ for carrying his family through his mother’s cancer.
Nick Foligno said his leadership and patience come from the way Jesus taught forgiveness.
Owen Power, Kent Johnson, Fehérváry, Vejmelka, Charlie Lindgren — these guys pray together, talk about Christ in interviews, post Scripture quietly while the rest of the league posts Lamborghinis and watches.
This isn’t “I cross myself before a faceoff.”
This is full commitment — guys who straight-up say “Jesus Christ is the reason I play.”
And I get it — it sounds crazy. It doesn’t fit the image of hockey we know.
But maybe that’s the point. Maybe faith shouldn’t fit neatly next to brand deals and stat sheets.
Because when your whole career can end with one bad hit, you start to see what really matters.
That’s when faith stops being a hobby and becomes oxygen.
People love to argue about the best stick curve or who’s the real GOAT, but these players literally put their careers in God’s hands.
They trust Him with injuries, contracts, wins, losses, all of it.
And honestly? I respect that more than any hat trick.
It’s easy to believe when you’re winning. It’s another thing entirely to trust Jesus when your season falls apart — and they do it anyway.
That’s not weakness. That’s the strongest thing I’ve seen in hockey.
