A report by the the European Environment Agency rates Ljubljana's air quality as poor, Maribor ranked as moderately polluted with PM 2.5 particles.

Slovenia's capital Ljubljana has placed 310th among 372 cities in Europe where the European Environment Agency (EEA) measured average levels of PM 2.5 fine particles in the air in 2022 and 2023. Its air quality was rated as poor.

Slovenia has been seeing a steady increase in recruitment of workers from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines in recent years.

Slovenia is increasingly reliant on foreign labour force to mitigate staff shortages. While the majority still come from countries of the former Yugoslavia, the numbers of workers from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines have been rising. Steps are also being taken to make hiring easier.
