More than 125 winemakers and culinary experts have flocked to Ljubljana for the 26th Slovenian Wine Festival, which is opening at Cankarjev Dom on Thursday. Six Slovenian iconic songs, including one by the Avsenik Ensemble and the theme song of the first Slovenian colour feature film, are featured in the first EU Song Book, launched on Tuesday after a decade in the making.

The book, available in physical form and as an app, features a total of 164 songs, six from each of the 27 EU member states, chosen in public votes by over 87,000 EU citizens.

Slovenia exported EUR 5.3 billion worth of goods in September, 12.8% more than in the same month in 2023, while imports reached EUR 5.7 billion, an increase of 3.9% year-on-year, data from the Statistics Office shows. In the first three quarters of the year, exports were up by 11% and imports by 13.5%.

Several major construction projects are in the pipeline at the port of Koper, headlined by a new container terminal expansion reportedly valued at EUR 150-200 million. The Slovenian Caritas has allocated EUR 5,000 in initial aid for Spain, parts of which were affected by devastating floods this week, while also launching a fund-raising campaign. The Slovenian Red Cross has also donated EUR 5,000 to its counterpart in Spain from the solidarity fund.
