Abstinence: A Promise of Saint Monica
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." - Matthew 5:8
Abstinence is the practice of giving up something we enjoy. It can be a powerful way to refocus our attention on God and strengthen our willpower.
Whether it's abstaining from a favourite food, social media, or other indulgences, this act of self-discipline reminds us of the sacrifices made by Jesus during his 40 days in the wilderness.
Let us look to Saint Monica and her promise of abstinence from alcohol.
By voluntarily giving up something that is important to us, we are reminded of our dependence on God and our need for His grace. Let us embrace the challenge of abstinence with a spirit of humility and gratitude during this season of Lent.

We love because He loved us first.
Wishing all a Blessed Valentine's Day; a day where we're called to love because God loved us first.
Love is a gift given by the Lord, it is patient and kind. God's love is unconditional, free and sacrificial.
May we receive His love poured out for us so that we grow in loving relationship with others and with Him. Even in our brokenness, struggle and desolation, we seek the Lord in His immense love so that may be healed by His Spirit and Truth.
