After that, he attended the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, obtaining a Master of Music in Jazz Studies: Performance Track. Eugene is currently pursuing a Doc
tor of Music Education degree at Liberty University. Eugene is a virtuosic multi-instrumentalist who plays the Electric Bass and all manners of Percussion. He fields incredible versatility whether in pop, rock, classical, or jazz. His confidence is apparent in many styles such as big band, combo band, symphonic band, orchestra, or even marching band. Possessing the experience of performing at places like The Esplanade (Singapore), Wally’s Jazz Cafe (Boston, MA), and Bar Next Door (Manhattan, NY), Eugene also has had his compositions and arrangements performed by laudable groups like the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra and at prolific places such as Lincoln Centre. Eugene’s wealth of experience also extends to having shared the stage with some of the world’s foremost musicians such as Orlando Le Fleming, Samuel Torres, Terence Blanchard, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Cecile Mclorin Savant. In addition, he has been fortunate to study with greats like Steve Rochinski & David Berkman (Harmony), Greg Hopkins & Michael Mossman (Composition & Arranging), Gary Burton & Antonio Hart (Improvisation), Darren Barrett & Bill Charlap (Ensemble), Mark Walker & Dennis Mackrel (Drum Set), and Michael Lipsey & Rogerio Boccato (Percussion). Eugene balances a career in academia while aiming for performance excellence, recognising the need to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive global music scene.
